Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
This article suggests Amazon have made a bid for a small package of Premier League matches to test the water:
https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/h...be-generation/
"The latest Premier League TV rights deal is set to be completed this week and industry experts predict there will be very little growth from the £5.1bn last time, if any at all. Apart from Amazon, which has bid for a small package to test the water, the tech giants do not appear interested in taking on Sky and BT Sport."
This article suggests BT where interested in the simulcast packages:
http://www.firstpost.com/sports/prem...d-4342903.html
"BT is understood to be interested in the "simulcast" idea, which is also designed to draw in one or more digital hosts such as Amazon, Facebook, Google or Netflix."
This for me is interesting. Wonder if BT and Amazon may have partnered up for a joint bid on some packages? A bit of content sharing.

With an announcement on the Premier League rights expected today it's interesting to see both SKY and Amazon's share prices climb this morning whilst BT's has gone in the other direction. Just coincidence I guess.

I think the regulatory threat to separate Openreach from BT is impacting its share price. Restructuring in the US for Amazojn and more detail on Fox's offer for Sky with regard to Sky News may also impact those two companies. It's hard to say and you could probably argue any small price changes either way quite convincingly.

This is pretty well what was expected, Chad, thank you for this post.
It makes perfect sense for Amazon to test the water like this, ready for the big push in 2022.
If BT or Sky lose out to Amazon in the future, I think a tie-up between Amazon and Sky and/or BT is highly likely.

But the whole of the Premier league rights have gone for more then before by quite a bit MM when one adds the other two packages thus that means higher prices.

Only if you decide to go for the extra matches being made available, surely? We won't get them for nothing!

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
It was stated over on DS Forums that under this new deal
Sky will pay £9.3 million a game
BT will pay £9.2 million a game
Sky must be pleased with this considering they have first picks every weekend.

So Sky really are still kings of the castle despite continuous denials by some who said their time was up..
