Try tell Wenger that. He wont see it as sitting but loads of movement and jobs to be done. Whether thats the right thing I don't know but I just cannot see Arsene letting Fab go elsewhere if he leaves Barca. I can't even see the oil rich being able to offer crazy numbers because of FFP.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
I would say in the 'Fabregas creative centre mid role' we have Ramsey, Ozil and Cazorla.

I hope not but I think we would need rid of Cazorla and even then it's a tough ask wondering how to build the team. It's just not one of the areas we're weak in.

Cazorla can go. He has been pretty useless. He doesn't look up for it, evidently needed more from him and he hasn't delivered. Good thing is there will be a fair few clubs interested, he isn't crap.
Ramsey, Ozil and Wilshere. Yup there are numbers but so what. If the players want to win big then they need to sacrifice something. Look at Joses tactics, you cannot have it all, something has to give.
On building a team. Depth. Thats building a team. Not 1 XI.
And lastly Arsenal can afford it.

Because why build so much depth there when the money is better spent elsewhere? Also you inhibit development of players if they don't play regularly IMO. We'll see. I would love him back but don't see it.

Not many but even then centre-mid has been probably the only position we haven't had a problem with despite two of the first team being out. It's our strongest position. The money is there but £30 million on Fabregas or for more strikers, winger or defensive player. Priorities: World class Striker, World class Defensive Midfielder, another Striker, Right-Back, maybe another centre back.

Really? You're saying had Ramsey been available, he didn't get injured that Arsenal wouldn't have had the title or still been in the race for it? What about if Arsenal had Diaby? A full fit Wilshere?
Remember there are going to be sales.

That Wilshere goal gave me goose bumps. Worthy of Goal of the season

I don't know. I find it a bit presumptive to assume that if/what had happen we would have won the title. We don't know what would have happened if things were different but you can't retrofit the squad with the benefit of hindsight. It's unlikely we'll have the same injuries again when Ramsey, Ozil and Wilshere all found themselves out in additional to Walcott. We could purchase more cover for central midfield and find out we're fine there but our defence is falling apart.
I think we need to look at the squad now and see where we need to improve it and central midfield does not leap out at me as a weak spot. Instead the full backs need to be better. We may need more cover in central defence. I think we need a world class defensive/holding midfielder to rotate with Flamini or to accompany him for tougher games.
We might need more pace on the wing as Walcott's injury, not Ramsey's, was the biggest blow as far as I am concerned. Ramsey was our best player but we did have cover there. Ozil was out as long and Cazorla is a pretty good player too. However Walcott's injury robbed the side of pace and teams felt fine playing a high line against us.
Then we need two strikers.
I want Fabregas back but I am just being realistic in that he doesn't solve any of the more pressing problems and if it weren't for the prospect of his possible departure we wouldn't be talking about central midfield at all. It's an emotional attachment to Fabregas that makes us want his return rather than any pressing need. Arsenal spent £42 million on Ozil. Would we play around £30 million for Fabregas in the same position? On top of our expected outlay for all the aforementioned positions.

Where have you been these past few years? The same ol'd happens year in year out. Stock up, depth. Thats building a team.

Ramsey was being dubbed for player of the season and no not only by Arsenal fans. Thats a bigger blow than Theo. Ramsey offers something completely different in midfield. Two different qualities I would have rather had Ramsey than Theo if I had the choice.
Strikers are a must regardless.

Fab is a quality you can't just let other have. Arsenal fans have been calling for investment for many years and now its there to be had you're saying about being stocked up. I understand totally about the more pressing needs but I don't see why both cannot be addressed.
Arsenal wont have or don't need these players...
Viviano
Fabianski
Sagna
Vermaelen
Arteta
Cazorla
Abou Diaby
Kallstrom
Miyaichi
Podolski
Giroud
Bendtner
Akpom
Thats a fair bit taken off the wage budget not to mention monies from transfers for some of those even if only some of those go. Note budgets will msot likely be increased more so with the new Puma deal and talking of Puma, the club will have packages to offer potential signings. Greater incentive.

I think Liverpool's defence is still far too leaky. They can put goals away as much as they like but they're still too vulnerable to a side that wants it badly enough.
|
You have summed it up perfectly as they have nearly conceded twice as many goals as Chelsea and to win the league you cannot have a defence as open as that as it was absolute craziness when they were 3-0 up last night to keep going forward with hardly anybody left to man the defence and although l am very pleased with how we have performed this season compared to some other so called big teams l also hope we can learn and progress even more next season.
