LOL, I can see the humour in this post. I had to spend ages convincing the missus to let me use her photo though, but she finally gave in.....

Gonna draw a line under the previous posts though, I have nothing else to say other than I treat media reports as speculation, I appreciate you may choose to think otherwise.

Here is the full article:

"The prospect of Sky Atlantic becoming available to Virgin Media’s 3.8 million TV subscribers has moved closer after it emerged that talks between the two companies have reopened.

The channel had a high-profile launch in February 2011, but the UK’s two biggest pay-TV operators never really got close to agreeing a cable carriage deal at the time.

Sources have indicated that the operators have now reopened negotiations and, although a deal is not imminent, they are significantly closer to agreeing a price for Sky Atlantic than they were two years ago.

One source said a “degree of realism” had entered the talks.

Sky Atlantic launched with a number of flagship series from US premium broadcaster HBO, including Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos, after BSkyB struck an output deal with the Time Warner-owned network.

It was designed as an exclusive home for premium content, including shows such as AMC’s Mad Men and Showtime’s House Of Lies, and was conceived as a way to attract and hold on to subscribers who were less interested in sport and movie content.

Dramas The Following and Game Of Thrones now regularly deliver consolidated audiences of more than 1 million.

The channel had a reach of around 11.1 million viewers in the first three months of 2013, according to Barb research, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 million.

This puts it level with channels such as Fox and Discovery.

It is thought that Sky could be persuaded that an additional 4 million potential viewers for Sky Atlantic would be a positive move, boosting ratings for its Mary Beard to explore life of Caligula for BBC2 content, which is often accused of rating poorly relative to its quality.

Carriage negotiations for Sky’s other channels on Virgin Media are due to be renewed this month, at which time a deal for Sky Atlantic is likely to be discussed.

Virgin Media could also be looking to replace ESPN, which will close this summer, in its premium XL package.

It will want to ensure it keeps churn low for its top bundle and has not yet struck a deal for BT’s forthcoming sport channels.

A move for a high-profile channel such as Sky Atlantic could help it retain customers.

The cable operator’s outgoing chief executive Neil Berkett has previously said that Sky had initially asked for an “unrealistic price for the product”."

There is a few things in the article that makes me question its accuracy. The lack of a genuine source being mentioned in the article, just vague references to a "source" or "sources". Secondly the use of some non specific statements and phrases like "it is thought that" or "a deal for Sky Atlantic is likely to be discussed". Finally the article does acknowledge that "a deal is not imminent" and whilst I can understand the point about opening the channel up to a potential 4 million viewers, the channel has been opened up to everyone in the UK with broadband by way of a NOW TV box.

Personally I think the article is more speculation than fact however others will see what they want to see.

Oh I missed one of the supposed SKY Atlantic launch dates out, the 14th of September 2013:

C'mon people, even Stevie Wonder can see what's happening here. It's all baloney.

To be honest I really had a feeling the channel would launch sometime in the next few months. However since then a family friend who works for SKY in Livingston told me SKY Atlantic will be used to push the sales of NOW TV over Christmas and into 2014. In short SKY are not finished milking it just yet.

I mentioned channel 4hd +1 based on this article http://recombu.com/digital/news/chan...es_M11991.html

other channels were given to me by sources so their dates were wrong so what? It doesn't mean the channels aren't coming. Admittadly i do have doubts about Sky Atlantic but i have no reason to doubt the other channels coming to vm or bt either.
The channels will come when they come as far as i'm aware only the bbchd ones are launching this month no others will launch until 2014. Ofcourse that could all still change your guess is as good as mine so stop pah pahing posts what people post , some of us do actually relay information we get from sources. Not our fault if the info was wrong is it?

Anyway Sky movies drama/romance has changed to Sky movies Christmas. So merry Christmas.

When I called Virgin last December to cancel my contract due to the price increases I told the rep I was joining SKY. He then spent the next 5 minutes telling me all the things SKY couldn't offer rather than focusing on what Virgin could offer me to stay. He made a few mistakes along the way about the services from SKY, but I don't think he was lying to me. I think he thought he was telling me the truth probably based on limited knowledge or old information. SKY reps should stick to talking about SKY products and Virgin reps should stick to talking about Virgin products. As soon as they try to talk about each others products, they tend to get it wrong. Problem is people like to push them on rival products which forces them to make a comment.

Both are as bad as each other mate tbf. When my contracts are up neither will be getting my money for tv , vm will for broadband but that's all i'll be keeping. For me personally Netflix , Hulu (with a vpn) and crackle suite me fine along with various tv network sites such as bbc , cw , fox etc.

It shows as a source they may not be reliable, which in turn makes people doubt the information and future information provided by the source.

I was just highlighting that information from sources regarding the launch of SKY Atlantic, not necessarily your sources, have been wrong time and time and time and time and time and time again. If that doesn't deserve a pah pah I don't know what does.

Nothing personal but who knows what to believe on here these days. Too many things been exposed as hoaxes, lies and misinformation over the past year or so. I just like a little bit of proof before taking things on here seriously.

Sounds good to me. At least we have something to agree on.

i normally agree with most things you post it's like you said it shows sources can't always be relied on and people shouldn't take things posted in this thread as guaranteed to happen. This is why now if i post something from a source i'll put something like "sky 4 is rumoured to be launching in second quarter of 2013" lol.
