If my car developes a rattle do I have to go and buy a new car? err, no. I stupidly expected a major problem like the sound being screwed, if i can use that term dad, resolved PDQ by NTL. I'd suggest everyone on the Bromley platform who has been told they have to wait til April for a box swap for the new BB speeds to ring up and demand a new box due to the sound issue on the Pace box. Show the engineer a radio station like snap crackle and pop kerrang and say "WTF, get it sorted". New box.

I think the problem was that you were mentioning it in every thread, even the ones which did not have any relation to your problem.

Re: *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please (Part 4)
I'm happy just been onto customer support and they upgraded me from 750kb to 2Gb straight away. Just reminded me of the 1Gb daily limit and that was it. Did a restart of the modem and all OK.
th'engineer
I'd like to know how you get your figures because the best I get are around these
1st 128K took 550 ms = 238313 Bytes/sec = approx 1983 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 610 ms = 214872 Bytes/sec = approx 1788 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 600 ms = 218453 Bytes/sec = approx 1818 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 550 ms = 238313 Bytes/sec = approx 1983 kbits/sec

'eng is on a rock solid throbbing Samsung STB while you're on a piddling little cable modem.
[actually it's because speed tests aren't very accurate - try taking sixteen or so readings, discard the top and bottom values and average]

We are not going to start the which is better debate, they will all want a Samsung throbbing STB instead of a Cable Modem .
Just wait till iadom gets one

You are starting to become quite tiresome now. I suggest you take a break before we enforce one.

the 1gb a day has been in the terms and conditions for ages (over a year IIRC) so it does apply to you

Re: *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please (Part 4)
Why some people complaining about cap, if it was like that for ages? Oh well.......
I think I have downloaded over 2GB the other day (last month). But its rare, since I was trying to catch up with Manga Anime Episodes.

Re: *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please (Part 4)
Hi all,
New here only found the site last week when I got a problem with my new comp and googled it for a solution. I didn't know anything about the upgrade till I read it here so called CS, got passed about a bit but one person was very helpfull, basically I've had loads of probs with my stb, having to reboot 3 or 4 times a week etc (well haven't had to for a while now but they don't know that lol) anyway this bloke told me that my 750k connection with the tv on is asking to much of the box, this is a common problem, he told me to call the people you speak to when you want to disconnect. Anyway long story short(ish) I told them he told me to ask for a stand alone modem, they asked why I was speaking to them so i said that if the problems were not sorted ASAP then my phone, cable and BB would be going elsewhere within the next 6 weeks. Tomorrow their coming to put in the stand alone modem, they would have only done this if I had not put up a further fight for the 2MB upgrade, once they saw reason in the fact it will save them money to do the upgrade at the same time as putting in the modem then I would have had to wait.
So thanks to you on here, I will be visiting frequently.
th'engineer,
Please can you pm me with the details of this "Cable beats ADSL only if its maintained and correctly configured" in your sig.
Cheers
Cro
