Someone with a few mage-supa-computers could probably crack the daily/twice-daily key in probably before it expires.. But if you remember the Sky fiasco early in the life of sky digital it wasn't cracked but instead an ex-employee gave away the master key which meant a whole series of cards were bypassed untill they were changed..

Even if its ever compromised I'm sure Kudelski will have some tricks up their sleeves to counter the hack very quickly and secure the encryption again by issuing a rom update.

The thing is, even if a crack is found, it will be a hell of a lot easier for VM to change the encryption than this time round next time so the crack will be much short lived

the only type of hack if you call it that is teh same as used ont eh sky system but i aint saying what it is as it is illegal but your not goign ot get many people on it as it involves having a tight group and one has to have a valid account

I'll be setting this up for someone soon, I've already set most stuff on his azbox up, I had no idea cardsharing was illegal

Just googled it and 5 people were arrested over it

On topic, Im glad VM have took action, I know someone at work who doesnt pay for it, Ive told him whats happening but hes not bothered, the way he sees it is hes had his monies worth

I know of one or 2 people with chipped boxes too that stopped working late last month. The one I spoke to said he's now going to move to Sky. It will be interesting to see what the effect will have on where the cheats go, now they have to pay for it.

There's very little available for the cheats atm, with most european sats now on Nagra3 or NDS and mainly foreign language using crackable encryptions (though most of them will soon be changing)

I'm actually surprised by how many people in my area are already using foreign satellite, there's 5 houses in a row at the top of my road all with 80cm dishes pointed at one of the well known satellites that shows 3pm footy on a saturday, so I figure more people will join the likes of them and start cardsharing.

I really don't see that many people cardsharing on cable, what's the point satellite offers them so much more?

trouble is pay tv is only really worth it if you are a sports freak...

If your not into sport (like me) then provided you are patient, it is cheaper to buy the dvd (once the price has dropped of course) than suscribe to the ever repetitive movie channels and all other stuff is available on freesat or freeview. Of course if you risk the pirate dvd option you can buy them even cheaper and before they air on movie channels anyway (we never bother because we find the quality is appalling!)

you do not have to subscribe to movies and sports there is plenty of other stuff to watch for a fraction of the cost with the XL pack .
