Hi
Darlington is also not in the list. does this come under Teeside ?
A couple of mornings ago the internet went down, on rebooting the modem.
I checked the connection, I saw it has changed from NTLworld to Virginmedia.
cpc1-darl7-2-0-custxxx.11-2.cable.virginmedia.com .

Re: 50Mb areas
Well, surely that has to be a good sign (looks like you've been moved to one of the new CMTSs). Either the kits in or they have re-segmented your network. (I'm sure one of the experts will point it out in a bit).

Re: 50Mb areas
That list is franchises and doesn't map neatly to hubsites.
Croydon was in the initial rollout and is repeated on your list as Croydon and Lndn Croydon one enabled one not.
Kingston uses New Malden which is done.
Richmond uses New Malden / Croydon and is done.
Stockport is done.
Redditch doesn't have its' own CMTSes.
Neither do Highbury, nor Edmonton.
Grays is live.
Guildford and Woking are different hubsites with their own CMTS.
You get the idea, franchises and hubsites don't meld together too wonderfully.
Yes the above poster is now on a next generation CMTS.

No, Darlington has its own hubsite, just one of 6 fed from Middlesborough. They will all be upgraded separately.

Belfast (belf), Belfast City (belc), Belfast East (bele), Lisburn, Glengormley, Londonderry. So far only belf has been done.
Here is the full set of sites yet to get 50 meg. In the main, larger areas have been done first, so even though around 60% of users can get 50 meg, less than half of the sites have been upgraded so far.

Re: 50Mb areas
I'm still shocked that Swindon isn't done, since one of their claims to fame is having (proportionally) the largest broadband uptake in the country.

Re: 50Mb areas
Some of those names sound suspiciously like Cardiff areas :
Ely
Penarth (no offence intended, Penarthians)
Pentwyn
St Mellons
Whitchurch
Can you confirm that you didn't mistake the milk for vodka on your 3 shredded wheat?

Ely is in Cambridgeshire
Penarth is 5 miles SW of Cardiff
Pentwyn is a district in Cardiff
St Mellons is a district in Cardiff
There is a Whitchurch in Shropshire & one in Hampshire - as well as Cardiff
Note that the areas listed are those which do not yet have 50Mb

Correct. But they all have their own hubsites on the VM network. There are also hubsites in Barry, Cwmbran, Newport East and West, and Treforest fed from Cardiff. They will all be upgraded separately.

hence my comment apologising to people from Penarth for including it as a district of Cardiff.

actually, you've pointed out districts of Cardiff and the thread is called 50Mb areas.
My mistake was calling them areas as they are, by definition of the dictionary, districts. I only wanted to point it out. Thanks, though.

Many thanks for the information. I have friends in 3/5 of those locations so will let them know that.

Can I assume that each of these Cardiff districts will also be treated separately? For example, if you (or some other VM employee) posts here that Cardiff is 50Mb connected, this will not include the previously mentioned districts unless these are explicitly stated? (Ely, Pentwyn, etc)
