Yes that sounds reasonable or just do not use them.
But an option would give people who do not like the idea a choice of switching on wonder how many nay sayers would actually use them though i reckon a few might.

That would be a waste of coding and testing time when it's much easier to not use them if you don't want them. If they work like they do on the V+ Box then it'd just be another option on the recording dialog so I'm sure you could manage to ignore its presence.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As long as the implementation is simple and doesn't screw up something else then we can all get along using Tivo how we want to use i,t not how we're forced to use it - flexibility is key.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Isn't it just a case of invoking reminders on individual programmes, not that there is a need for an on-off option? "Off" is just a case of not selecting it for a programme you want a reminder for. Sure this was how V+ worked, didn't even know the feature was there until we wanted to use it one day.

I just wish they would hurry up a bring reminders in. Along Full red button, these in my opinion are the two reasons why the V+ in our house has the edge.

I see that the Harry Potter and Twilight apps have been removed which now bring the number of apps down to 13. So much for the quote that there would be a hundred apps within a year.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I just had my TiVO installed today and the speed of navigating through the menu's and TV Guide on it's own is worth the replacement of my V+HD which kept freezing and was very sluggish.
However I'm not sure if this is because it needs to update overnight, but when I go into a catch-up programme and press OK to view it, the result just takes me back to the 'on demand' menu? Should I not be able to watch a catch-up programme from the TV Guide?
The HD channels on the TiVO are showing the same superb picture quality as the previous V+HD box but I'm not sure if there is a slight softening of the feed on SD channels compared to the V+ Could be just me, it's not too noticeable but some of text/lettering i.e. the BBC news banner appears a little less vibrant than before. I'm wondering if any of the settings need changing?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
What's happened to the VM Help & Support Forums? Looks like the style sheet for the site has gone bonkers:

Setting Reminders
You can now set the application to change the channel on your TiVo box at a specific time and date using the reminders
options.
Provided that the application is running on your PC at the time of the reminder, it will then change the channel
just like the V+ box did.

Brilliant, the reminders function is great, it returns the missing functionality from the old V+ boxes that I miss until VM can add it natively
|
Can you explain the reminders I can't find it on my box
