As I said earlier, more and more of the maintenance of the buildings they rent from the council is being passed directly to them.
No other council money is used for those purposes.
We previously lived in a tower block, one of 3 sited together. Owners of flats that they had bought were each liable to 124th of the cost of any renovations or modifications done to the blocks. When overcladding and double-glazing were fitted, the cost to private owners ran into the tens of thousands of ££s. Then all doors had to be upgraded to higher fire standards That cost private tenants a lot too. Then the lift replacements, new gas central heating, etc., etc. None of that money came from general council funds, but from the rental side of the business.

How did this topic go so off topic for a set of Drain Rods? Lol

Re: What have you just bought?
Renewed my passport, doesn’t expire until next May but won’t have the 6 months I deed when we go away in January next year.
Got a photo done in a booth with a code
Applied online for standard passport in standard time frame Saturday afternoon
Sent my old passport off on Monday
New one arrives tomorrow
Less than a week, not bad

I used the post-office service and they rejected the photo, back to the PO who just retook it, submitted and now have a new passport. Shame about the photo, the first one was better.

I did this last year, same process, it took slightly more than a week though as I recall (< 2 weeks).

A Railcard which completesavings gave me some cashback so it worked out around £34 for 3 years.
2x 500grams of boneless lamb for £10.
3x magnum white chocolate £1.75, I grabbed a few packs
4x croissants 67p, I grabbed a few packs.

Re: What have you just bought?
A case of Polish lager for our lad. It works out cheaper than even nipping to 'spoons.
