The Irish people won’t take home even half of that. The per capita stat paints a false picture. The UK people take home a much higher proportion of GDP.

Whilst I love bashing Boris as much as the next person this isn’t as much of a story as has been sensationalised by the media, there’s about twenty public sector orgs and private companies involved in this trial that Boris & Rishi found themselves on.
It does however present itself as another spectacular gaffe/uturn.

Quite agree with the sensationalism, but we should be used to that from the media by now.
As for a gaffe/U-turn . . . maybe Bojo and Rishi have decided that the trial (involving around twenty public sector orgs and private companies) isn't as good as was first made out to be

That's what BoJo would like you to think- the BBC is reporting that organisstions cited have not taken part. Whatever the truth of the matter, BoJo looks to have been poorly advised

Re: Coronavirus
Any nonsense about people who are meant to to be immune, either from vaccination or previous actual infection, being reinfected, misses the fact that they must have come in close contact with somebody who is able to transmit it.
If 1m people are or might be infected, that means over 100,000 infected people out there, still able to transmit it. With lockdowns and people sticking to the rules, that just not be possible.

Fortunately the developed world seems to be coming to its collective senses on this sort of thing. So I guess within a few years we’re going to see whether the Celtic Tiger was made of paper all along.

Does the EU not prevent member States from undercutting other members to increase their own tax take?

And it was just pure chance that they both happened to be picked for this trial.....
I think even Johnson has realised that this one rule for us and another for everyone else attitude would annoy the public.

This isn't 'Freedom Day' we're not 'free' until we can control this pandemic at a local, national & global level. Our actions from today have the potential to cause significant suffering to others. Our actions should be considered & thoughtful. Unlike the government's.
