Dundonnell created a strong impression by landing the Pinsent Masons LLP Acomb Stakes at York.

The 15-8 favourite cruised into the lead under James Doyle after Afonso De Sousa had made the running. The Roger Charlton-trained colt looked like coasting home, but veered towards the far side of the track, allowing Steeler to get to within three-quarters of a length. Afonso De Sousa was third.

Doyle said: "I was delighted with him. He's still very babyish, but he's helped me out there as the Aidan O'Brien horse (Afonso De Sousa) skipped away from us. I found myself in front too soon, but he's got a lot of gears."

Frankel stretched his perfect record to 13 when treating his legion of supporters to another breathtaking performance in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York.

The world's best racehorse took the step up from a mile to 10 and a half furlongs in his stride as he justified highly-restrictive odds of 1-10 without being asked a serious question.

Leading two furlongs out in the hands of Tom Queally, the Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt pulled away to score with consummate ease to lift this Group One prize, sponsored by his owner Khalid Abdullah. Farhh pipped St Nicholas Abbey for second, seven lengths behind the brilliant winner.

Another superlative performance from a horse who is now simply the best there has ever been.

Thought Worthy benefited from a brilliant ride by William Buick to lead from pillar to post in the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York.

The 9-1 chance set only a modest gallop in the early stages of the mile-and-a-half contest, but he quickened the pace before the home turn and caught one or two of his rivals a little flat-footed.

His advantage was eroded as they headed inside the last couple of furlongs, with 13-8 favourite Main Sequence the biggest threat. But the John Gosden-trained Thought Worthy gave Buick everything he had as the line approached and held on to claim the Group Two prize by a neck.

Shirocco Star spearheads a strong assault from Hughie Morrison on Thursday's Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

The East Ilsley handler saddles the daughter of Shirocco, as well as Coquet, and they were second and sixth respectively behind the reopposing Was in the Epsom equivalent. Shirocco Star has since finished third behind Princess Highway in the Ribblesdale and second to Great Heavens in the Irish Oaks.

The Fugue steps back up in distance for today's Darley Yorkshire Oaks on the Knavesmire.

John Gosden's filly placed in the Oaks at Epsom and the Ribblesdale before coming out on top in the Group One Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

"The Fugue has been in good form since the Nassau and she goes well on the track. She is stepping back up in trip but she is in good order," said the Newmarket trainer

Eleven-times champion jockey Pat Eddery has hailed the freak champion racehorse that is Frankel after the Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt blitzed his rivals at York on Wednesday.

Eddery rode many great horses when retained rider for Frankel's owner Khalid Abdullah, including the 1986 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Dancing Brave. However, the jockey turned trainer believes there has never been a horse quite like Frankel.

The four-year-old took his perfect record to 13 with an imperious victory in the Juddmonte International, stepping up from a mile to a mile and a quarter with consummate ease.

Connections of the ante-post favourite breathed a sigh of relief after Motivado just made the cut for the Betfred Ebor at York on Saturday.

Sir Mark Prescott's charge got in the valuable staying handicap as number 19 of a maximum 20-strong field. He only gained his place in the line-up thanks to a 4lb penalty for winning a handicap at Glorious Goodwood three weeks ago. Following the live draw, which took place in York's parade ring, Motivado was handed stall eight.

Shareta gained a well-deserved Group One success with a narrow verdict over The Fugue in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York.

The French filly, trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre, wore down The Fugue in the closing stages to score by a neck under Christophe Lemaire. Was, who was prominent early on with Shareta (2-1), was a length and three-quarters away in third in a race run in driving rain.

Rosdhu Queen made a swift return to action pay when blitzing her rivals in an eventful renewal of the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes at York.

William Haggas' filly had landed the St Hugh's Stakes at the weekend and only ran as her owner, Steve Parkin, and trainer are from Yorkshire.

The Group Two event was supposed to see John Gosden's Newfangled cement her position at the head of the betting for next year's 1000 Guineas and she was sent off the evens favourite.

Buick picked up the ride on Paul Messara's multiple Group One winner before Goodwood, where she gave weight and a beating to a useful field.

Jim Bolger has decided against running star juvenile Dawn Approach in Sunday's Galileo EBF Futurity Stakes at the Curragh as he feels conditions are unsuitable.

The 2000 Guineas favourite is unbeaten in four starts to date and was last seen landing the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, but he missed the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh two weeks ago on account of testing ground and similar conditions look set to prevail.

Australian mare Ortensia delivered a remarkable late run to lift the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

Paul Messara's seven-year-old was almost last and at least 10 lengths behind the leader at the halfway stage of the five-furlong Group One.

However, William Buick retained the coolest of heads as he pushed her up the far side of the track and the well-backed 7-2 joint-favourite collared Spirit Quartz in the shadow of the post to collect by a neck.

Godolphin's Dubai Prince bounced back to form to claim the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes at York in the hands of Frankie Dettori.

The four-year-old was considered potential Classic material following an unbeaten juvenile campaign for Dermot Weld a couple of seasons ago, but his career has not quite taken off as expected having suffered various injury problems since joining Mahmood Al Zarooni.
