NTL had better fix this bug soon or they'll start to lose customers. The screen blanking on the old software was bad enough but this is ridiculous
With this problem going on for so long and now to get even worse on the new software, you have to wonder whether the NTL executives actually watch their own cable TV service. If they do then they obviously don't care enough to have it fixed.
So far this year what has NTL given me? They have given me some inferior software that makes my TV viewing experience even worse and now they are increasing the price of that inferior service.

I got LCR3 Today...Kirklees...4001-2B

Overall i think its great...i think it will be even better when i get used to the blue but already it is better than the pink...

Another thing that a really like is the Mini View in the guide i think thats a great idea...but like most others i would say it seems slow at the moment and i would also like to see a PgUp/PgDn 100 channel jump for the miniguide

Overall 9/10 till i get used to the colour lol

When I first got it and played with it I though it was great. However, when I actually used it for the intended purpose, I have grown to hate it.

The navigation logic is flawed and is slow.

The time and hassle involved in setting up reminders in the main guide for programmes next day or the day after (or just beyond the mini guide limit of about 8 hours hours) is so bad that I usually don't bother and instead I use the radio times and a post-it note stuck to the STB. You'll get mighty sick of seeing "programme information unavailable" and having to wait whilst watching a miniTV view of a front row advert - which it switches to whenever you venture into "programme information unavailable" territory in the main guide.

I rarely had my STB freeze up when using the old EPG software or just watching TV but now that happens too frequently for my liking.

The brief blank screens we used to get at 23:10 and/or 1:10 are now much worse and during which it even changes your channel by itself sometimes.

Also, there is so much wasted real estate on the screen. They could present more information and hence require less clicks (or provide the same information and use less screen space in the mini guide and favourites pop ups).

Overall , I get the impression that this software is desperately trying to be something that it will probably never be. Functional, in every sense of the word.

The blue is much better than the pink though. .
Oh, and I do like the channel favourites re-ordering.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

The new interface performs extremely poorly.

Scrolling through TV listings as you watch a channel is very laggy. The TV guide itself is next to useless, with even the initial 'choose a category' page taking a good few moments to load. Scrolling through the thing is a nightmare..

The software is so bad that I can't believe anyone at NTL actually tried using it before it was shipped out.

Is it the digital boxes themselves which are not powerful enough to render the new graphics quickly enough?

Perhaps my expecations are too high - but all I want is something that performs as well as Sky's interface. Is NTL able to match that?

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Has nobody considered the fact that maybe, just maybe, the 12:10/1:10 thing might have something to do with the old software still? Maybe there was a workaround in place to minimise the effect, and this workaround causes funny things to happen on the new software. Once all the forced downloads have gone out and everyone has the new software, NTL will be able to turn it off, and it will all be okay.

That's what I reckon, anyway.

Angry Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Has anyone else had constant freezing since they got this new software? Sky one and e4 regularly freeze and even BBC was doing it 2nite. It probably happens more but i dont watch enought TV to see.

One thing is for sure, my cable modem signal levels are hanging on by the skin of their teeth since we got the new software upgrade....

The software on your stb cannot possibly change the levels arriving at the cable modem within your house, something else has changed the levels to both your STB and modem.
Call CS, and get someone out.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Picture freezing is a tell-tale sign of signal level problems. There may have been a new connection in your street, or maybe some ingress from somewhere nearby, that's started recently. Give NTL a call and get them to send an engineer out.

Incidentely, there's no way that the STB software update could affect your cable modem -- they use completley different technologies (in Langley areas anyway).

EDIT: Dammit, just too quick for me!
