Well, surely, it’s up to the seller to supply what the buyer wants at a price the buyer is prepared to pay.
To my mind, that means UKTV needs to do better.

Well the UKTV Twitter posts certainly aren’t helping their relationship with VM. If UKTV want a deal, deliberately winding up the people you want to do a deal with ain’t the way to go about it.

Twitter posts usually tell you who is in the 'box seat'. UKTV have the channels, VM want them but aren't prepared to pay, even though there has been no increase in costs. UKTV seem happy to continue on without VM. VM have miscalculated and their customers lose out. Only one party responsible for this situation.

Think you are grasping at straws . The loser is UKTV it will hit them in the pocket far more than Virgin. Hence all there moaning on twitter. You don't sell enough of your product you go bust .Just look at the high st. If you really want them back STOP moaning disinterest is the strongest weapon in Virgins arson

There are always to sides to a story, you seem to blame just one party.
We are only talking about a minority of customers, people will complain just to get money off their bill.
We will have to wait for churn figures some way down the line to see how many people actually cancelled.

Re: Virgin Media & UKTV+ITV Channels
In my case I complained because I now have to source the channels from elsewhere at extra cost to myself in addition to what I already pay Virgin. Both sides are to blame here with the customers who like the missing channels stuck in the middle.
I only complain in genuine cases not just to try and get money off my bill. All calls are logged VM and others know who the constant complainers are and who are just trying it on.

According to David Bouchier on The Media Show, UKTV increased the cost and refused to negotiate - a point that wasn't refuted by Steve North. Virgin have offered to restore the free channels at no cost to UKTV.

Too right I blame one side. There has been no change in costs from.UKTV; VM tried a bullying 'we've decided not to pay anymore' tactic and created this situation. Are these savings being passed to customers, or will we be rewarded with a price rise as soon as the dust has settled?

Well, the BARB figures for the week that the channels were removed from VM are due out on Monday, so we will be able to tell how this has affected UKTV.
We'll need to inspect the next quarterly results from VM to see how it's affected them. Does anyone know when it's due?

I can see why this could be seen as an act of antagonism from UKTV too, but if someone had a product that Asda stopped selling, i'm sure that the manufacturer would point out that if was still available at Tesco in order to try and reduce their lost sales.

As I said to Mr K there are two sides to a story which he obviously refutes.

Someone on here posted a link to the PR after UKTV & VM last signed a couple of years back, and there was mention of OD rights to the BBC archive and suchlike. It's well known that's now been signed over to Netflix and has been removed from the table.
But of course, it's all VM's fault

Don't really get the obsession with On Demand. 83% still watch linear TV, and if you haveTivo, OD is not really needed. There's always iPlayer for current BBC stuff and they are increasingly including Box Sets of older series. Bit of a red herring excuse from VM imho.
