Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
So which headend does Stevenage use then? I thought it WAS being done by billing areas, evidently not.

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
A question for Ben and that is that our family is on The VIP Collection so if we were to re-contract if we can get Netflix free for six months then am l right in that there would be no difference to our current VIP bill?.

We've got it at last Den! Not had a real chance to play yet, but it seems far more responsive on first view and the new HD screens look nice. Look forward to having a proper play later

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
If you have any loyalty discounts, you can't have both the discount and the free trial.

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
I checked this morning...nothing.
Sorry to everyone in the Rotherham area. I swapped to Tivo as soon as I heard about the Netfix app. That's the reason we're last on the update list.

But looking at my bill there is no indication of any loyalty discounts and it just says we pay £109.75 for the VIP collection which includes a extra TiVo box.

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
Still nothing here! I really thought I was Bromley headend, BR8 postcode, billing area 22, but obviously not. Oh well, I am actually off work tomorrow so I don't need it until then. I've got £11 worth of loyalty discounts so I'll stump up the £5.99 Netflix sub and still consider myself ahead. 6 months free is not to be sniffed at, but it is actually only 30 quid saved when you consider the month free that everybody gets.
Makes you realise what excellent value Netflix actually is.

I'm hoping this is accurate and up-to-date.
This explanation might help you. Just like BT, VM is a hybrid system, not pure fibre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_fibre-coaxial

Thanks for that roughbeast. I have a slightly better understanding of the way it runs now, well enough to keep me going anyhow.
Looking forward to having Netflix tomorrow, VM have clearly been saving the very best for last, so there will be no problems for us....

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
Surely there can't be many places that haven't got it now, must be finished by tomorrow you'd think. Takes the biscuit a bit that virgin are announcing offers when not everybody has access to Netflix yet.

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix
The Netflix update arrived in London (at least in my part) overnight. Looking forward to exploring the app when I can find the time.

I agree with your point, I am sure it will rile some people over the country. I don't mind personally though. I have ordered my activation code and I would still choose to wait until I got the code before I would use the service anyway.

The billing "area" is identifies which billing system you are on, but they aren't always geographic. There are about 20 billing systems, but 54 headends, so some of the billing systems cover more than headend. Area 31 happens to be the one that covers more than any other. (OTOH Bristol has two billing systems for a single headend)

That's it pretty much. It's where the region's broadcast equipment, telephone exchange and some of the broadband equipment is. They are usually anonymous buildings on industrial estates. There are also local hubsites with more equipment, mostly broadband, but sometimes TV-related.

You're on the Luton headend. But this time the rollout isn't even being done strictly by headend. For example, half of Barnsley has been done today.
