Adam Kirby caught his fellow jockeys napping when making virtually all the running on 25-1 outsider Lethal Force in the Betfred Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.

Kirby soon grabbed the lead on Clive Cox's three-year-old, who was blinkered for the first time, and at one stage he was several lengths clear. When the opposition finally closed on him, it was too late.

Mount Athos booked his ticket to Australia for the Melbourne Cup with a clear-cut success in the Betfred 'The Bonus King' Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury.

Dartford made the running for his John Gosden-trained stablemate Masked Marvel until four furlongs out, where the pack closed and the Group Three race changed complexion.

Brown Panther soon went past Masked Marvel, but Mount Athos hit top gear for Ryan Moore and the Luca Cumani-trained 5-4 favourite strolled away to win by three and a quarter lengths. Brown Panther was second and Modun third.

Connections will consider a range of top-level options for I'm A Dreamer after the filly recorded a landmark success in the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington under Hayley Turner.

The David Simcock-trained five-year-old took over in the stretch and just had enough in the tank to hold the fast-finishing Marketing Mix by a head.

In October, the daughter of Noverre had been beaten by the same distance in the EP Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in Canada with William Buick in the saddle. Buick, however, was required by John Gosden for Joviality, who ran a fine race in third

Kieren Fallon believes it is just a matter of time before Afsare picks up a big international prize after his narrow reverse in the Arlington Million.

The Luca Cumani-trained five-year-old got agitated before the start, not helping his chance, and having been short of room at one stage, ran on strongly to go down by a length and a half to Little Mike.

In contrast to the Cumani runner, the Dale Romans-trained winner enjoyed the run of the race up front.

Fallon said: "If I had broken properly, I could have sat behind. But because he was messing in the gates I didn't get the start that I wanted. I think it cost me the race.

Snow Fairy made a triumphant return to the track with a game win over Izzi Top in the Darley Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville.

Ed Dunlop's globetrotting mare, sidelined since suffering an injury in Japan last November, was held up towards the rear by Ryan Moore and made her bid in the straight along with the John Gosden-trained Izzi Top.

Reckless Abandon swept to Group One glory in the Darley Prix Morny at Deauville to take his unbeaten record to four.

Clive Cox's speedy youngster was quickly away, enabling Gerald Mosse to grab the stands rail and make the running.

The Norfolk Stakes and Prix Robert Papin winner was given an easy lead in front and had plenty left in the tank in the closing stages as he stepped up to six furlongs for the first time.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained pair of George Vancouver and Parliament Square finished strongly, but had to settle for second and third place respectively. Sir Prancealot, trained by Richard Hannon, was fourth.

Marco Botti completed a unique staying-race double when Joshua Tree landed the Darley Prix Kergorlay at Deauville.

Successful with Jakkalberry in the first running of the American St Leger at Arlington on Saturday night, the Newmarket-based Italian trainer struck again in this Group Two contest over one mile seven furlongs.

Ryan Moore, who had earlier taken the Prix Romanet aboard Snow Fairy, set the pace on the former Aidan O'Brien inmate. He was headed by Flamingo Fantasy in the straight, but rallied in determined fashion to regain the lead and hold the late flourish of Brigantin by a length.

Kevin Prendergast is looking forward to a crack at the Moyglare Stud Stakes with Curragh maiden winner Starbright.

After filling the runner-up spot on her first couple of appearances, the daughter of Duke Of Marmalade made it third time lucky with an authoritative performance in what looked a typically warm maiden at Irish Flat racing's headquarters.

Prendergast has trained two fillies to win the Moyglare in the last six years and feels Starbright deserves a tilt at the Group One test on September 9.

Frankel faces just eight rivals as he steps up to 10 furlongs for the first time in Wednesday's Juddmonte International at York.

The undefeated four-year-old has dominated the mile division but trainer Sir Henry Cecil makes the switch up in trip as the Galileo colt goes for a 13th successive victory.

He will be joined by his regular lead horse Bullet Train and another Cecil inmate Twice Over, who won the International last year.

Aidan O'Brien also fields three runners, headed by Coronation Cup hero St Nicholas Abbey, who is dropping back in trip from a mile and a half.

Outsiders Windsor Palace and Robin Hood also run for the Ballydoyle team.

Australian superstar Black Caviar looks set to race on for now after bouncing back from a hard trip to Britain.

The six-year-old was a narrow winner of the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, just clinging on to her 22-race unbeaten run by a head, and connections of the mare were uncertain about her future, with trainer Peter Moody giving the daughter of Bel Esprit a lengthy holiday.

Sir Henry Cecil is planning to make a welcome return to the racecourse in order to see Frankel compete in Wednesday's Juddmonte International at York.

The celebrated trainer, who has been receiving ongoing treatment for cancer, has not wanted to pick up other infections and missed the unbeaten superstar's most recent victory in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Cecil said: "Although I have had some medical treatment recently and not been racing because my immune system is low, I have been able to work from home. I am very hopeful that I will be able to make it to York on Wednesday to saddle my horses."

He added: "I just cannot miss the day and I want to be there for Frankel."

Joseph O'Brien is excited about being involved in the Juddmonte International at York on Wednesday as his mount St Nicholas Abbey takes on the unbeaten Frankel.

But whereas Frankel is stepping up in trip to 10 furlongs for the first time in the Group One contest, St Nicholas Abbey's best form is over a mile and a half, including when winning two Coronation Cups and a Breeders' Cup Turf.

O'Brien does not expect the distance to be a problem for the five-year-old, who finished strongly to take third place in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes behind Danedream on his last run.

Sir Henry Cecil will be double-handed in Wednesday's Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York with Thomas Chippendale and Noble Mission clashing for the second time.

The pair were split by just half a length when first and second in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, while Frankel's younger brother Noble Mission went on to thwart Encke by a nose in Goodwood's Gordon Stakes.

"The Great Voltigeur looks a very good race but I am looking forward to running Thomas Chippendale and Noble Mission," said Cecil.

Impressive Goodwood scorer The Fugue heads a select field of seven for Thursday's Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York.

John Gosden's charge bounced back to winning form in the 10-furlong Nassau Stakes at the Glorious meeting last month but will be stepping back up to a mile and a half for this Group One.

She finished third over the trip in the Oaks at Epsom and will clash again with Aidan O'Brien's Was and the Hughie Morrison-trained Shirocco Star, who finished first and second that day.

Morrison's Coquet is the other three-year-old runner in the all-aged heat.

Dawn Approach and Mars, the two leading candidates for next year's Classics, could clash in Sunday's Galileo EBF Futurity Stakes at the Curragh.

The Jim Bolger-trained Dawn Approach is clear favourite for the 2000 Guineas, while Aidan O'Brien's Mars is next in the betting and heads the market for the 2013 Derby.

Dawn Approach has already won at this level when landing the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, but Mars would be taking a step up in class after winning on his only start at Dundalk

Ed Dunlop has a "secret wish" that Snow Fairy will run at the Breeders' Cup later on this year.

The brilliant five-year-old returned from a lengthy lay-off to win her fifth Group One in five different countries on Sunday, taking the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville.

Dunlop has fond memories of America, having taken another brilliant filly, Ouija Board, across the Atlantic for three successive Breeders' Cups, winning twice and finishing second once.

Ryan Moore has confirmed he suffered a broken wrist in a fall at Warwick on Tuesday evening.

The jockey currently heads the standings in the race for the jockeys' championship but it would seem his title hopes have suffered a fatal blow, as he was partnering Cresta Star in Warwick's Chieftain Fabrics Handicap when his mount slipped up after the home turn and sent him to the turf.

Speaking in his Betfair column, Moore said: "I had my third fall in as many weeks at Warwick last night - following on from Romeo Montague at Goodwood and Havana Gold in Deauville - and the bad news is that it is third time unlucky and I have broken my left wrist."

John Gosden's hugely exciting juvenile Newfangled aims to keep her unbeaten record intact in the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes at York on Thursday.

Following a scintillating debut effort in what looked a typically warm Newmarket maiden, the youngster took the step up to Pattern class in her stride with an awesome display of raw talent from the front in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Gosden said: "Newfangled seems fine. The Lowther has always been the plan - so we are sticking to it."
