Re: 50Mb areas
Available now in
Haringey ("hari" CMTSs)
Livingston ("livi")
Luton ("lutn")
Mansfield ("mfld")
But use the postcode checker to check is available to your house before calling.

Re: 50Mb areas
Just phoned up Virgin on the off chance of 50mb as I am in Hitchin on the lutn network (lutn-cam-1a-v116.network.virginmedia.net) but they are only installing in Luton proper at the moment it seems. Guess I will be waiting a little longer although last time when they upgraded Luton to 20mb I could update right away.

Re: 50Mb areas
From 9 April 2009 50Mb will be available to customers in:
Cambridge
Chelmsley Wood
Cosham
Doncaster
I am in Portsmouth that is served by Cosham headend, however, postcode checker & VM staff still claim that 50mb is not available.
Has anyone in the Portsmouth area managed to order 50mb, please?

Portsmouth is served by the Portsmouth hubsite, which is in turn served from Cosham.
Click on the connection tab, if you see PMTH in there you're served from the Portsmouth hubsite.
pmth-cmts-01.network.virginmedia.net = Portsmouth
cosh-cmts-01.network.virginmedia.net = Cosham
I am served through Croydon Headend via Mortlake hubsite and have to wait until Mortlake is upgraded before my 20M will work at 20M.

Re: 50Mb areas
Ok virgin tech told me try use cat5e ethernet cable instead and go to network card on the device manager then right click mouse and click advanced and change the speed & duplex from 10/100 or auto to 1Gbps full duplex and click ok and reboot pc and reboot modem. That should solve the speed problem.
Try that and bingo, my speed shoot back up to 51Mbps now.
