Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
I was wondering what area I'm under on the Virgin 'Where's my upgrade?' page.
I'm in Petersfield.
I have a Guildford postcode - GU31.
The Guildford area - Farnborough, Camberly, Woking, Aldershot, Fleet, Guildford - Completed.
But alas I'm still on 4mb. Can somebody tell me which area I'm to watch for news of the upgrade date?

What do you get if you click on "Connection" near the top of this page?
Mine is straightforward but you might be able to figure out which area you're in from the location of the UBR.

Unfortunately, that question ain't so easily answered...
You've done the old 'turn it off and on again' routine with your modem, I guess?

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
I'm in Nottingham (NG9) and I'm still only getting 3.7Mbps. I've done all the modem reboots etc, but still no change. The "Even Faster Page" on VM's site states that the only areas which are still "TBC" in Nottingham are Chesterfield and Grimsby.
Does this mean that I should have been upgraded now, or is NG9 part of an area which is not classed as Nottingham?

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
I think it means the whole of the Nottingham area, stretching as far as Chesterfield and Grimsby. No change here in NG9 either...

The best thing to do is post your region code then someone can tell you what region you actually are.

Done the old turn off and on. Well did on the 1st and the 3rd but not since.
If I click on the connection button, I'm told that I'm not on Virgin Media!? Shame that as I'm on their 4mg connection.
Using another website, I have found out - cpc1-horn2-0-0-cust898.cos2.cable.ntl.com
Any other way to find the host I'm with?

I'm in Hampshire. Maybe it's Cosham?
So that would mean I'm in the "Cosham area Fareham, Portsmouth, Havant TBC" area? Oh well, better get that wait on. thanks for the answers :-)

Your UBR is EX-Telewest, to check your region please post the region code from the top of your bill.

Hi Gingerbread Man
You are on the Cosham 2 UBR, and looks like the Horndeen 2 card.
My is cpc3-fare4-0-0-cust***.cos2.cable.ntl.com, which means I'm on the Fareham 4 card on the Cosham 2 UBR.
You are on the ex-NTL (now VM) network (formally ex-C&W (Cable & Wireless)). Same as me .

Try putting the following inhto your address bar, at the bottom under the heading "Your Access Info" it will tell you your IP address and what UBR you are actually on, this is an Official Virginmedia Internet Tools page.

Out of interest, what different information would http://tools.virginmedia.com/ give about your UBR that the 'connection' button on the cable forums task bar above can give you? I have tried both and seem to get exactly the same information.

You can save it as a bookmark and use the other tools on their, the ones that are not at the top of this page. Remember not everyone is confident of going into the DOS screen, for that reason alone it is a worthwhile post.
