Is there anywhere to get a spec of what connections this box has, eg. audio, SCART etc. , so I can compare what it's capable of to the one I currently use?

Late summer... as it says in the thread title... that is as accurate as anyone can be at the moment.

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004
Current information that I can tell you
Upgrades to the infrastructure are continuing for the increases - a lot of money is being spent.
Large resegmentations are being carried out to increase available bandwidth - this includes new cards that give 2 downstream & 8 upstream channels per card instead of the current 1d to 6u. (but any talk of higher upstream speeds is still just rumour ). These measures should help areas where there is currently congestion.
A lot of new fibre is having to be installed as well for these upgrades, which takes time.
Also, a load of new proxy (netapp caches) are going to be installed in all areas.
There is a lot more I would love to tell you, but it's still hush hush atm, so I can't reveal it.
Oh, and there is still no final date other than the current end of summer (or before if it's ready).

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004
I just want to define the end of summer if it hasnt already been defined:
"The official end of summer is the autumnal equinox. The autumnal equinox happens on September 22 and it marks the end of summer and start of autumn."
A cool fact (but unrelated):
"On that day of the autumnal equinox the day and night are exactly the same length."
I will stick with NTL till then to see how they get on with their 'upgrades'.
plus.net unlimited 2meg service for £39-99 is tempting though
[I wanted a pray hands smilie but couldnt find one - makes me sad]

Same here with the news today that BT is to cut the monthly charge on its high-speed broadband internet service, by up to 25%, and having both BT and NTL in the house Iâ₠¬ÃƒÆ’¢â€žÂ¢ll have to take a look again at the BT service and price.
In all honesty £12 I think is about right for the lower BB service, during the summer I was actually thinking of dropping the service as with everything the cost of the phone,TV and BB all adds up to over £30 a month and its simply not worth that, Iâ₠¬ÃƒÆ’¢â€žÂ¢d rather pay more for a new house or car than a Utility

Re: [Merged] NTL Increasing BB Speeds Late Summer 2004
Sadly I will have to stick to NTL as my BT phoneline can only accomodate a 512kb/s service.
No good to me!!!
I have never had any problems with NTL but am just itching for faster speeds.
Although I have to say that I think most people would prefer a higher upload than download??
