Well since they introduced the 1GB "limit" more than 12 months ago that doesn't really apply now.

Well normally you'd be right, but this is plaNeT-L we're talking about - and the t&c's you sign up to point you in the direction of the AUP, which includes the following:

NTL User Policy
You should check this User Policy regularly as we may change it to take on board new issues that may arise in connection with your use of the Services or the way we provide the Services. The most up to date version of the User Policy will apply to your use of the Services, even if you have not read the updated version.

I'm pretty sure (perhaps someone more legalese than I can confirm) that this would mean that if the AUP changed during the course of the initial year's contract then you would have the right in law to cancel the agreement. But I don't think that changing it in the first year would be illegal.

I think it would depend on how significant the change is. But a significant change to the contract would render it a different contract and cancelable. Well you could argue it would not have been entered into rather than cancelling it.

That said if the bandwidth guidance limits did not affect your usage patterns under the contract, I doubt you would have grounds to cancel.

Okay it's AOL, which is possibly a worse evil than NTL, but the point is the competition is (as I've contested before) reducing prices, so why on earth are NTL increasing them?

As broadband progresses I've always expected prices to drop and speeds to increase (accepted that higher speeds may be introduced that cost more, fiar enough), but it baffles me as to why NTL want to increase prices.

erm, no. AOL BB is only availible on 600k NTL BB. The 1MB is only availible on BT lines (subject to line check...).

Still it covers most of the cost of your BT line rental.

Just downgraded from 1mb to 600kb. Sad to do it but the service has been poor and frankly the cost should be heading down not up. I reckon it should be 24.99 for 1mb and 34.99 for a 2mb service. Well I'll give it a year or so and see what happens, meanwhile ADSL services are getting cheaper and faster and I can pick them all up in this area.

So would it just be simplifying things for an NTL user on 1mb bb to simply change their package to 600k? then they can switch?

Understand your point, but was just replying in regard to statement that only 600k customers can switch to aol 1mb through NTL line.
