Good on Holland. I didn't see them beating Brazil at half-time, but they pulled it off.

Yep, although I disagree about lennon, he has had 2 World Cups and done nothing at either, might be time to have a serious look at him to see if he can cut it at international level.

WOW! Last minute of injury time in extra time. The Uruguay defender handballs to keep the ball from going in, gets sent off, but Ghana miss the penalty! If he hadn't hand balled it they would have been out, he has kept them in but by cheating! Got caught but a penalty is better than a goal I guess

It wasn't a defender, it was Luis Suarez, their best striker alongside Forlan. Suarez scored 35 goals in the Dutch league for Ajax last season.
Fantastic bottle from Gyan to walk up and take the first penalty after missing one that would have won them the match.
Sorry to see Ghana go out. I think Uruguay will sorely miss Suarez though...

Amazing! Uruguay go though! Make no mistake, they would have been out had Suarez not hand balled it out! The ball was going right in at the penultimate touch of the game but the handball stopped the goal, Ghana missed the penalty, and lost at penalties! Amazing.

Sorry wrote it in a rush. Didn't actually see who it was.

No worries. I just pointed it out as it's a major loss to the Uruguay team to lose such a prolific striker.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Some debate as to if Suarez had cheated or not. Some people are saying that this he got caught and a penalty given he was taking advantage of the rules, I think that since it was going in and he stopped it against the rules he cheated. Although why not? It was the difference between them being in the world cup or not. It was the last moment of the game, might as well go for the penalty. Weird one.

Looks like both the Uruguay players went for the handball

Like I said it was either that or they go out, I guess they would rather have the red card and the penalty than the goal given because otherwise they would be out. No time left. However it would have happened so fast that it would have been instinctive i think.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Just got back from the match - incredible! And so agonising it was painful.
I've just uploaded a video of Gyan's missed penalty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70EOM_KTx7o - i wanted the earth to just swallow me up after that.
