Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
Somebody suggested on TalkSport that at the start of extra time each team should remove 4 players from the field of play. This would then open up space on the field and allow more attacking play.
Sounds like a good idea to me.

Drop balls. Start contesting them again! We want to see feet flying!
Diving. Games should be reviewed and any player diving, or trying to con the ref should be banned for 3 games.
Instruct TV producers that people tuning into a football match want to watch football, not play spot the celebrity, good looking girl etc in the crowd. (Unless it is those two Sweedish girls kissing again).

Same three match ban for trying to influence the referee, you know by surrounding him, producing imaginary cards ect.

Just been reported on news agency that an England player has failed a drugs test.
Theo Walcott was found with Calpol in his system.

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
Zidane getting the award is complete rubbish. He was crap in the first two games, and suspended for the third. Fair enough he had a great game against Brazil. Was ok against Portugal.
Cannavaro should have won it by a mile, been great every game, didn't get a single yellow.

Probably because it was his last tournament and last games of a great carrear which deserves to be remembered for more than a headbut on a greasy italian.

Fair enough but the Golden Ball is for player of the tournament, not for lifetime achievement.

i didn't see them playing with their hearts at all.. after Owen got injured there was all this talk in the papers from beckham and others saying we will win it for Owen etc etc
i never once saw them raise their game and they never put in any effort at all.. several times i saw gerrard pull out of 50 \ 50 balls that in a Liverpool shirt he would have been a dead cert to win
Terry and Lampard failed to reach the heights of their club levels and once all the teams worked out J Cole only ever cut inside he couldn't do anything at all in the second round and quarter final
our best player was probably Hargreaves and he's hardley world class.. the fact that he out shone Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard etc who are world class players say alot about the effort the others put in

I'm not a fan of Hargreaves and would never have thought he should have got picked for the team in the first place, but he WAS world class against Portugal, credit where credit's due. Rio Ferdinand (much as I don't like him either) was also fab. I think Gerrard started pulling away after he got carded and was worried about missing matches. Fatty Lamps was poor though. Joe Cole, agreed - although I do think his goal was one of the best of the tournament. Lennon is world class too, just didn't get enough minutes on the pitch.

When half your team are played out of postion, captained by a moron and managed by an idiot what do you expect.
I would very much doubt Rooney would have been sent off if he didnt care and to be honest i truly believe nobody goes to the World cup finals and dosent give it his all.

Sorry mate - like i said i wasnt directing it at you - im getting flooded with England jokes where its either Ronaldo or the England team that are getting the crap ripped out them. (From England fans)
There's no need for it really. I take the mickey - but only because i support Scotland. We go out of tournaments all the time but we dont lay into the team like this, im actually feeling a bit sorry for what your doing to your team.

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
What England need is a coach who will pick the best team, not the best players. Someone who if Lampard and Gerrard aren't working together will drop one.

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
Be fair Raja, your lot don't go out of tournaments all of the time - they often don't reach them at all
