Re: Virgin National closes to new customers
...you've lost me. The equipment being removed from the exchange will deal specifically with FTTC links. The backhaul link Virgin provides to Sky will have nothing to do with said FTTC equipment. That'll be Sky's equipment, which BT won't touch. Anything after that is Sky's responsibility (i.e. Virgin) and BT won't go near it.
It's not like there's a big box labelled Sky and a big box labelled Virgin with a cable going between them and BT will just be like "Well say goodbye, Virgin!".

Re: Virgin National closes to new customers

The service being put in place for Sky is not part of what was being built for VM. The Sky project is independent and was specifically requested to be independent of any other service which is standard procedure.

But the only equipment they need to deal with FTTC links is backhaul. There is no FTTC equipment other than that to connect the VDSL network to VM's backhaul.

Yes, they want to develop and improve the content.
The addition of BT Sport and Netflix is part of this. Which is fair enough.
Personally I though the fibre project was a good idea, but what do I know?
In any event, they have spent a lot money in buying VM, and they need to grow the business and they will have a clear idea of how they will do that.

Not disagreeing with you on the fibre piece my only point was that it's their prerogative as the new owners to change the direction. They have a lot of experience in the business and Mike comes across as a very bright individual.
To the point Chrysalis was trying to make, investor sessions are sometimes by invite only and a nda has to be signed just as you internal VM guys have to sign when working on the future thinking .

Not sure what you are on about with the tidbits and no bite comment. Means nothing to me?

I mean posting small amounts of information that are inconclusive, basically letting people you know whats what but not saying whats what.

Why is this even being debated? They're not removing anything relating to Sky, even if it comes from VM.

Looked to me like you were talking about backhaul being removed

Re: Virgin National closes to new customers
Yeah, I never said anything about removing backhaul, quite the opposite. Still not sure where you got that from.

Re: Virgin National closes to new customers
Yeah, I'm saying there's a distinction between removing VM's equipment and removing backhaul stuff. As in, removing one does not mean removing the other. I'm saying that backhaul is NOT being removed. I don't know how I could have been clearer on that one.

Re: Virgin National closes to new customers
I've been reading this thread and I'm wondering at the need for folk to be 'disagreeable' when replying to or refuting comments and assertions..
