Ouch, £54. Sorry, maybe I should shut up.

Agreed mate I haven't got a 1TB Hard drive as I don't need it , 60 hrs HD is easily enough for my needs. Don't forget the sky+hd 1tb records 240 hrs HD compared to about 110 hrs on TiVo.

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
A big No from me.2months ago I might have paid up for it. That went when they started to give it away. Then they were promising the wonderfull special deal. After people have been so patient with them they get let down at the last hurdle by todays email. These activation charges and install charges are a joke.
I don't think of myself as a loyal customer anymore. I shall change supplier at my whim in the future depending purely on price and service. This is after nearly 20yrs on cable.
Plus as I already pay them over £100 a month for VIP50 I think they are getting enough. You have to draw the line somewhere.

£200 for a box you never own? I think not. How long before the bugs are sorted? Look at the Superhub?
Dont start with the warranty issues, Sky will normally repair/replace a faulty box if you cancel because if it.
Give them 6 months, they will be charging new customers £99 with free installation/activation.
I can see the posts on here now....

I think you're right, maybe longer than 6 months, but price will drop and be much more competitive. But as with all high end consumer products, the early adopters pay the higher price, and rightly so.
Count me in (sucker that I am).

Seems fair to me, I am happy not to own the box and have VM replace it if it fails. Various posts seem to indicate that an engineer install is required, someone has to pay for that time, so why should i expect it for free?

I'm considering it but would have hoped that it would have been a better offer for top tier customers

True they could say have it for free and then charge you x amount of money to come out after 12 months?

Straight No from me at that crazy price.
They're rethinking the pricing though so I hope they take this chance to offer us a truly 'special price'.

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
I'm on VIP50. I have a V+ box in the living room, and a Vbox in the bedroom. If I decide to get Tivo, and keep the other 2 boxes will Virgin for the £40.00 install fee do the following for me:
1. Install Tivo into the living room, replacing the V+ box?
2. Move the V+ box into the bedroom, replacing the Vbox?
3. Move the Vbox in the bedroom to my other bedroom up in the loft? Virgin would need to run cables up there as I've never had a box up there before.
I'd imagine this would be okay as I've already paid install fees for the 2 boxes I currently have, and would be paying a 3rd for Tivo.
It was my birthday 2 days ago and the Mrs. just asked if I'd like Tivo!!!

Happy to pay the £149, but not the £40 install - will wait for Christmas, and get it as a prezzie.

Yeah just noticed that they've called me Dean in my e-mail.
"Our exclusive pre-sale event for the 1TB box is only available to you. Think of it as a little ‘thank you’ from us for being a Virgin Media customer..."
So who are Virgin talking to in their e-mail, Dean or me?
Talk about treating me, and by the sound of things many others as just another face in the crowd. Is this an early April fools joke or do Virgin think everyone is called Dean
It's another fine mess they've gotten themselves into
