Hmmm... What TV do you have, and how is all your kit connected?

If you listen to the sound from the TV, is it in sync?

Unhappy Re: Sound out of synch on BBC HD

Hello Spiderplant

Well the techo said there was nothing he could do and had never heard of a problem like this, went out to phone his boss, came back and said his boss had heard of the problem before but didnt know how to fix it.
I did suggest that the fault be reported nationally as other people were having problems to which he said that should happen. So why is nothing being done.
Do people with Sky have the same problem

By the way the sound on sky news last night was terrible but I put that down to it being a ****ed Gazza turning up at Rothbury lol

I can't see anyone who has the same problem as you. Yes, there have been lip-sync problems on BBC HD, Living HD and Eurosport HD recently, but you seem to be suggesting all channels are affected. Normally if people report this on all channels, it turns out they are using a system that is delaying the sound (many amps have an adjustable delay setting). But you say it happens when you have the sound through the TV too.

Like I said - I'm baffled.

One test you could do for me, assuming you've got at least 12 hours free on your V+... Set your V+ to record BBC HD Preview at 03:40 tomorrow. When you play it back, at some point there will be a sync test. It's a black-and-white screen with a bar moving from left to right and a clapperboard sound. Where do you hear the sound?

More info on the test here (scroll down to "AUDIO VIDEO SYNC") http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcintern...rom_the_h.html

Hi mdancer, I'm back in the office on Monday night, so if you could check then and post in this thread?, then I'll do some testing myself in the office with the various set ups we've got.

Thanks

Re: Sound out of synch on BBC HD

Hi - DF sorry just picked up your post. I was watching Top Gear on BBCHD last night and it was out of sync. I have tried in the interim of changing my optical cable connections. I now have it going from the V+ to the SONY surround speaker stand, but no change. I had it going from the SONY Bravia optical out to the surround originally. If there is no optical there is no 5.1? I have checked out other HD channels and they are okay. Also out of sync TV speakers.

Is it out of synch at this time? I'll check the office tv.

---------- Post added at 17:47 ---------- Previous post was at 17:40 ----------

Seems ok just now... I'll check when The One Show is on later.

I've watched a couple of recording from BBC HD from last week and they were out of synch at times

---------- Post added at 19:02 ---------- Previous post was at 17:47 ----------

The One show is in sych in the office.

Re: Sound out of synch on BBC HD

DF - thanks for your watching brief. From what you said there does seem to be a problem. Maybe I am not going mad afterall. I did check last night and there was a problem, but just with BBCHD, other HD channels broadcasting in HD with 5.1 sound were fine.

cheers
