Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.

Well, our cat has decided he doesn't like snow and ice (this year, I might add, he's been fine with it before). As such, he's stayed in the house and is obviously bored because he keeps hiding, then leaping out and attacking the dogs...

The cat Queen's heart is gladdened in the knowledge that another human has been assimilated.

Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.

I must admit that it all looks a bit OTT but in a way I wouldn't mind if it caught on.

In the USA it is still thought to be OK to declaw cats and if this training to help curb a cats more destructive antics can help stop that barbaric practice then, silly as it looks, I'm all for it.

I haven't shown any links but a quick Google of declawing cats + USA may just sicken you.

Sorry to go all heavy but one of rescue our cats had been illegally declawed and the poor thing really suffered physically as a result.

I still don't like anyone trying to make cats anything but what they are...declawing is a disgusting habit and why have a cat if you can't accept it is what it is.If you want a dog to train buy one is my suggestion to these people...

And people who keep a pet cat permanently caged should be shoved in a cage themselves.

Agreed. The only real 'trick' we have ever taught all our cats was to come to us at the sound of a whistle and our cats have only ever done that when they felt like it.

Similar to my above post, my Cat has another little game he likes. All our pets sleep in the same room, and when I get up, I let them out and get breakfast for them. The cat runs straight down the stairs, hides near the bannisters then smacks our yorkie (with his claws retracted) round the head. The Yorkie is apparently surprised by this every time.

The cat occasionally tries it on our Westie as well, but she normally attacks him if he does, which has resulted in me having to break up a few fights.

Agreed. I personally consider my pets to be as much part of the family as any human (and the pets apparently consider me to be part of their pack). I wouldn't cage any pet, partly because, as I stated earlier, I consider them to be part of the family (and I wouldn't cage any of the human members) and partly because, in the case of dogs anyway, they will only consider where they live (the cage) to be their territory.

Agreed Maggy. I dont understand people who take on pets that cant handle them. If your willing to take an animal into your home you should be aware of that animals habits/traits and be happy to live with them.

Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.

The only trick my cat will do is the psychic prediction of which chair you want to sit on and teleporting there just before you get there... oh and she'll come to the call of a packet of cat food.

She's an indoor only cat though and has been for many many years. It's not cruel, at the time I rehomed her we lived on a very busy road and I called Cats Protection after an older indoor cat and mentioned I was a sucker for a hard luck story - got put in touch with the fosterer for a feline tripod who they wanted to be indoor only as she wouldn't stand a chance if a dog attacked her (she's missing a back leg so finds the initial jump up to climb things difficult from a lack of spring) - who promptly decided I belonged to her and has been hogging the bed for the last 6 years.

The cat over the road wants to be in on a morning before its owners get out of bed. It jumps up onto the bay window and miaows, then you see a semi-dressed arm shoot out of bed and the curtains, open the window, let the cat in and close the window. It's quite funny as the cat can climb the pebble dash wall to get up there a la spiderman.

you should film it and send it to you've been framed! or at least put it on youtube.

I feel your pain with the bed, our main cat is the same - if you're settling down, he'll suddenly realise - it must be warm under there! and nuzzle / headbutt his way inbetween me, hubby, & the duvet!
