Probably because the Russian number covers the entire soviet union (twice the size of Europe) including military deaths. While the holocaust was a purging of civilians for genetic purity.

This because one Mad man with a nation behind him tried to remove a race of people from the face of this planet. This included anybody who had a Jewish grandmother would be sent to the death camps for the final solution.

Err I don't believe any one mentioned Russian deaths during WWII the 1937 Soviet census on the other hands results were supressed due to one mad man purging his population of 25 million people, particularly the land owning upper classes who were wiped out. Where WWII was mentioned was with regard to China where 10 million civillians were murdered , many experimented on, imo Nanjing should be up there in terms of infamy with the Warsaw ghetto.

So I return to my original question: Is it time to move on or should our children be told the truth as part of our worlds history at school???

If we are going to pick and choose which bits of history suit us, perhaps it is time to move on, even more so if we allow other nations to air brush out their involvement in some of the worlds biggest attrocities

And speaking of China, you don't meet a lot of people who know that the second worst war in history after WW2 was the Taiping Rebellion in China around 1860.

Has anyone here been to the Holocaust Museum in Yad Vashem in Jerusalem?, I have.

No I havn't budweiser, but I did go to Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps in Poland on an official tour, to walk around both camps and see what it must have been like, and realise this happened only 65 years ago in Europe is almost indescribable.

In the museum in Jerusalem, it broke my heart to see the teenagers looking and crying at the `exhibits` as to what maybe happened to their ancestors.
This is a part, be it horrendus, of history that we cannot pretend never happened.
