Re: Superman Returns

I've seen plenty of reviews over the last week from ain't it cool news, www.bluetights.net, www.kal-el.org, www.supermanhomepage.com to name but a few. Hollywood reporter had a review up last week.

So far its all been good though, every review has said it is a fantastic movie.

Thumbs down Re: Superman Returns

Saw this tonight and.....

Well what can i say, its Superman. Thing is the new Superman (
Brandon Routh) isnt as Muscular and he doesnt carry it off all that well to be honest.

The plot isnt that good either, i expected more from this film, i expected to see more of the abilities that Superman can use but was let down.

I can tell you that theres a suprise to this film that you wouldnt expect, but again its been let down by the plot of the film.

The older Superman movies are alot more in depth, this movie is supposed to continue where Superman 2 Ended, but this isnt apparent when it begins.

the relationship betwen Superman and lois is to over the top.

With all the bad points it is worth a watch but dont expect anything to special, as a fan of Smallville and older Superman Movies 1 And 2 i would have to give this new arrival as 6/10.

Anyway its out next week so go see it if you have kids they will enjoy it, as for Superman fans i would go in excited and come out dissapointed.

I saw this last night and thought it was amazing. I am a huge superman fan comics and everything else.

I think if they make a sequel it will be better of course, As this one had to re-introduce the characters and the world they live in.

Superman did use most of his powers in the film.

I personally thought Routh was brilliant as clark and Superman. There were a few occasions I was stunned because his voice and mannerisms were so Like Reeve it was scary.

Loved it 8/10

Re: Superman Returns

so what did you watch then?

Big films like that need a big screen clear picture and good sound.I spent over a grand on my surround sound set up at home and have over 800 dvds some 600 I have not seen.I wouldnt give time of day to a movie that doesnt have 5.1 at least and clear picture. Some screeners have this but I have not seen a Superman returns screener release anywhere yet. Dodgy car boot salesmen make thousands of pounds selling stuff like telesync and telecine releases I personally do not understand this as most movies now are released on dvd only a few months after cinema release. Its my opinion im not saying anything against people who watch them I just dont understand them

You have now seen the movie do you not feel that will spoil your experience next week?

Re: Superman Returns

Well put it this way I have a DVD collection of over 300 as well as 6.1 Surround and big screen TV. I generally go to the cinema at least twice a month.

It was a very good quality TS which is a cam with direct audio. The picture was rather good.

No I do not think it spoiled my experience as I read the novel last week anyway. If anything knowing how great the movie is I want to see it on the big screen even more.

As I mentioned in my last post I have tickets booked to go on the 14th to see the film.

Re: Superman Returns

Some films just have to be seen on the big screen for the special effects if nothing else

Re: Superman Returns

Saving Private Ryan - first 20 minutes or so.

If had seen this at home first (even with 5.1 surround and large tv), it wouldn't have had the same impact as in the multiplex (imho)

I hope you mean the Maven TS as all the other versions are not worth watching as they are so poor.
