Re: [Merged] EMail Problems *Again*
I also haven't been able to have e-mails forwarded and deleted from the server, having set up a rule for both my ntl mail accounts via webmail.
I wondered why my yahoo account was quiet, and logged in to webmail to see hundreds of mails just sat there
Trying to access webmail tonight is a waste of time, it just times out, the useless piece of poo that it is
I hope they get it fixed soon, as this is a nightmare, and I think once it's back to some kind of 'normality' I'll change every record of ntl mail to yahoo, as at least that is reliable and spam free...

Re: [Merged] EMail Problems *Again*
Anyone know if NTL: Business's service is any more reliable than NTL: Home's? They offer a 750k broadband package for the same price (£24.99 ) but with a service guarantee - six hour fix or compo I believe. I'm thinking of switching (cos too much hassle to get a BT line back in, though believe me I'm tempted). The compo element suggests to me NTL: Business servers may be more robust and/or the engineers more incentivised!

Nope. I'm just a humble freelance. I think I can see where you're going. It's going to be £24.99 plus VAT isn't it?!

Ok, now I have been very patient for the past week waiting for today the promised day when the e-mail service etc is to be restored.
Trying to access mail via Outlook Express, yes and settings checked but server refusing me access to receive or send. Even web mail as dead as the dodo. So NTL techies what is going on? When can we expect normality to be restored?

Fortune smiles on you. We cannot access our e-mail at all for over a week now, neither can we access web mail and neither can we get into our account. So I suppose I'll have to call CS this morning to get assistance though I'm not excited by the thought.

Many thanks to pad for suggesting changing the outgoing SMTP server to mail.tesco.net - solved a problem that's been bugging me since I switched to Tesco Broadband !
I used to be with Powergen ISP (which was then taken over by Breathe) but I still managed to send and receive my e-mail when I switched to AOL. But when I went to Tesco I could only receive, not send. I didn't want to use Tesco's webmail or change my existing PGen address so I spent hours on Google looking for a solution to the dreaded "Error Number: 0x800ccc0e" messages.
I'm just annoyed that Tesco don't seem to have some relevant FAQs, just a helpline where I couldn't speak to a real person after holding for 35 minutes.
Once again, many thanks.

Re: [Merged] EMail Problems *Again*
Anyone having issues with messages failing to arrive in their inbox? Someone who emails frequently is insistent she has sent mails which haven't arrived. But I still get mail from her. Yesterday she sent two mails a couple of mins apart but only one arrived. She's using BTconnect, I'm using NTLworld. Could messages be being blocked by NTL's new spam blocker?
Andy
PS. For those familiar with my previous posts, the lost mails aren't in my spam folder this time!

quite possibly. I am sure BT have many email servers and maybe only be one or two that have been blocked. This will need to be taken up by your friend with BT

I can't understand why some mails should get through and others not. Also had someone else on complaining that a mail I sent, twice (once yesterday, once this morning, has failed to arrive. Also had a response this moring from the postmaster at one address I sent to with a group mailing yesterday, saying delivery to other recipients (with a variety of ISPs) had been delayed. I is confused!

Re: [Merged] EMail Problems *Again*
Beware. Turns out I'd been blacklisted by something called SORBS (Spam & Open Relay Blocking System) purely, it seems, because I have, in common with all other cable users, a dynamic IP address. I've contacted SORBS to request delisting but spotted an article on the internet which suggests they may not be that co-operative. Personally I'm not sure that this kind of vigilantism is the right way to combat spam.
Incidentally, thumbs up to NTL Tech Support who provided some good and prompt advice. If other NTL users suffer similar problems let's hope the company jumps on SORBS from a great height.
Cheers
