Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich?
If our handsets are truly unbranded then as soon as Samsung release the official UK rom via Kies then yes we will get it.
Fingers crossed!

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich?
I still cant get my head around it, why are poeple waiting for a uk firmware update, the polish one is ready and so is "open Europe"
Any reason why I shouldnt use them to update from 2.3.6?

Because the UK one is official and won't void your warranty. Also if you put it on via ODIN, you'll have to put any further updates on that way as KIES then won't like your phone for firmware updates anymore

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich?
Firmwares don't invalidate the warranty from the manufacturer at all. Sure virgin might not support you if you flash with Odin but Samsung will honour their 2 year guarantee.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich?
emailed samsung reagarding the update,Here is the reply ----
Dear Howard
Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the following assistance.
Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on Galaxy S II will be available from week commencing 19th March, however the availability of software upgrades in the UK will be dependent upon each network’s own software approvals process.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards
Adrian

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich?
Well that's as useful as a chocolate teapot. They are acting as if there is no such thing as an unbranded handset - that they are all network issued only

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich?
So are we any further foreword in finding out when an update will be available ?
The VM SGS2 is indeed "Sim Free" and "Network Free" so I dont think its an issue with Virgin, as the FW code has NO VM branding ???
Really annoying tho, knowing its "out there" and I cant get it
