It could be worth trying a cache wipe.
power off
hold down volume up + home + power all at once
wait until the boot screen comes up and it will says recovery in the top left very small, let go at this point
use the volume up and down to scroll and use the home button to select
choose wipe cache
than choose boot system

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Beats me why anyone would want a Samsung phone at all, dismal build quality, vomit like overlay, riddled with gimmicky 'features' that make the thing run well below what it should. I suppose the market exposure, and unending advertising do it. There's loads of much better alternatives around these days. Samsung really need to get their **** together. After all others have (HTC, Motorola, Sony for example)

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
I'll agree with you on the first part, and I do believe that's down to marketing. The second though... I've used a lot of phones and Samsung's image and the reality are two entirely different thing.
I also know that all the samsung fanbase will come out and defend their precious, I'd simply say to try a few other makes occasionally, and you might be surprised because nothing stands still for long in the smartphone world.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
I wasn't aware that Samsung had a fanbase. I find that their build quality is basically crap, but in the case of the S3/4 I think they did something right as an alternative to the iphone that is.
I don't think anyone can say their customer service / support is good either, far from it. I think you'd be hard pushed to find many that will defend them.

Indeed, a phone is a phone and my S3 until the upgrade was perfect for what i wanted it to do. It now has the new upgraded firmware that has been fixed and is again a phone that does what i want it to do.
I will not be buying another Samsung because of the way they dealt with the mess they made, i will not buy a Iphone because i don't like the way Apple operate and the way they sue anyone that looks to be better than them. The iphone is not much different to the one they first produced and likes innovation, i think you can say they are running out of ideas now Jobs has gone.
I might try a Nexus next time.

Like the HTC one with a non removable battery, the Motorola what exactly? The nexus with no so slot? The Sony with the terrible screen and the wasted space at the bottom?
No one has made the perfect phone, but I feel Samsung is the closest to it

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Well gee, as I said the worlds moved on, removable batteries & sd slots bring their own issues, you knock a HTC 1 for that, yet it's won awards for its unique style, its build quality is second to none, and *gasp* even Sense overlay is restrained & practical.
Motorla G heard of it? maybe go research, it's got S3 type spec (bar the camera) oh yes it's ike £129 for the 16GB version, almost pure android & flies, it too is receiving massive kudos from the tech sites, lets not forget the rather good build quality (plastic too..)
Sony, yes the bezels... oh god the BEZELS! well it's like waterproof ip67 rated, I could live with big bezels for that, screen angles, another bit of a myth, unless you like to look at your phone like your eyes are on stalks...
Still nothing perfect, but Samsung are way behind the curve on so many levels. They must have heard the quite vocal cries from people like me and more on the tech sites, maybe they'll come out with a restrained software overlay & and a build quality that's a bit better than something you'd find in an Aldi christmas cracker, that would be nice, after all it's not like they haven't got the budget or the resources to do those things, I just wonder if they have the will.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Forgot about the flagship Motorola g for £99 at tesco!
How much is a HTC battery replacement?
I prefer lighter plastic as I put my phone in a case anyway

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Find me another phone that you can lock to a specific channel or frequency band for network testing without a £800+ custom engineering ROM and I'll buy it.
Until then, Samsung's the only game in town.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
After having the S3 for about a month now I have to say the switch from my 4S wasn't as much of a success as I'd hoped. It's either Android or the S3 but it's clunky as hell. With the 4S when I selected an app, an option or whatever, it just happened. It was a lot more slick. With my S3 sometimes I don't know if it has registered what I've selected so I'll tap it again and it will go past whatever I chose as it waits to catch up - very annoying. I never had any issues with iOS6 or 7, everything just seamlessly integrates with each other
However saying that the larger screen of the S3 is much more welcome and pictures seem to come out much more clearly. I can read my satnav much better when I'm driving as a result of the larger screen and the sound seems better too.
Probably the best way to sum it up is I prefer the software of the 4S and the hardware of the S3.
