Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
I'm in the Bromley area, according to the post code checker, and on the 750K service through my Pace STB. I just phoned and asked if I could have my STB swapped and the nice lady said not until after 5 April. So no 2MB for me until then unfortunately. Also I guess that we'll have to arrange for an engineer to come round to do the swap, which is always tricky because it means arranging someone to be in the house all day waiting for them. Ah well..... enjoy your upgrades you lucky people.....

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
yay all sorted... i love defying ntl! some querky sounding welsh man (no disrespect to welsh) enjoyed getting cocky with me saying like "trust me you cannot get any speed upgrades over the phone or on our or 3rd party websites" and i was adamant that i could... i told him that it looked like it had worked but would reboot and tell him if it worked and he didnt want to hang around and told me that he couldnt just "sit" on the line...!!
haha!! thanks for the help all

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
the person I spoke to (Swansea Tech support) was also under the impression that speed upgrades were today for new customers, end of the month for existing.
I happily showed him the Tier upgrade page (where it asks if you want to upgrade to 2mb or 3mb) and also showed him this thread...he was satisfied and is apparently going to inform everyone by way of mass email to the callcentre.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
If you want to test your new speed upgrade, try downloading the new Doctor Who, this must be legal if you pay your tv license! see www.guardian.co.uk/online I was peaking at 208kbs on the 2mb service.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
http://www.home.ntl.com/page/usagefaq
Guidance on the 1Mb Broadband service usage allowance.
What happens if I reach my usage allowance?
Over the next 12 months, ntl will provide tools to allow customers to measure their data usage. When these tools are available, customers who approach their data allowance will be able to choose to:
- reduce their data usage for the remainder of the month
- upgrade to a tier of service with a higher usage allowance
- pay for usage above their allowance.
Until these tools are available, ntl will monitor usage but not apply the 3GB allowance, except in cases where heavy use is affecting network performance.
