Someone said any publicity is good publicity but he was wrong as this is just plain boring, it's getting as tired as the old shows format imo and the new programme hasn't even been shown yet

Shows how much the world has changed.. I remember the old days when Chris Tarrant would drink until the early hours and then turn up to present the Capital Breakfast show still drunk..

Even a few years back, Lisa Snowden left Johnny Vaughan a drunken voice mail, which he played (much to her embarrassment) on the show the next day.

These got barely a mention in the press at the time.

Now, we apparently have BBC bosses panicking that Chris Evans likes the KFC too much..

The problem of the show is the main presenter.

His presenting style is just tedious, hearing his voice on the radio makes my toe nails curl i certainly wont be watching it.

They would have been better off with Alan Carr, get it Carr.

CHRIS Evans has called for the BBC to never air 'disrespectful' Top Gear scenes filmed outside the Cenotaph.

The DJ claimed the entire Top Gear team were "mortified" by the reaction to the stunt, which came about after The Sun obtained pictures of co-host Matt LeBlanc skidding through Westminster and throwing smoke into the air while driving a Ford Mustang.

He said: "I think the images are terrible, they look so disrespectful. I saw the images this morning for the first time and I felt the same as everybody else. This is not a good story, no.

Chris's apology puts him at odds, once again, with Top Gear bosses, who tried to defend the stunt yesterday, saying: "The activity actually took place around 40 metres away from the Cenotaph. All agreed in advance."

Oh dear. Hitting the nail squarely on the thumb.

I know some are out to get the new Top Gear but is filming near the Cenotaph really that offensive? Plenty of films, events, sports and so on have been filmed on Whitehall and sometimes the Cenotaph is in shot. As far as I can see the Cenotaph didn't form part of the stunt, i.e they weren't do u-turns around it, it was just there because it exists on Whitehall.

A spokesperson for Westminster City Council said in a statement: "What the Top Gear team did on the day was not what had been agreed during the planning process.

"At no time had the BBC producers made Westminster City Council aware that the car was going to be doing anything but drive down Whitehall. There was no discussion about wheel spins and a doughnut and permission would not have been given to do so."

Col Richard Kemp told Stephen Nolan the war memorial should be shown "respect".

Col Kemp likened the Cenotaph to a "cemetery" and said he did not want to see any clips featuring the memorial in the final edit.

He added it "does not need to have people screaming around in cars and generating smoke from their tyres all over it".

You can always find people willing to go on record, there is always someone who is offended.

It's more why the sudden offense about filming near the Cenotaph considering it's been done many times without objection? Off the top of my head I know cycling races have whizzed past it, that section of Whitehall was used in the Bond film Skyfall and also one of the episodes of the modern Sherlock. Oh and 28 Days Later.

The cenotaph is on the Parliament Square end of Whitehall, one of the most iconic parts of London, an area constantly being used in films and on TV. Sometimes the Cenotaph is in shot and sometimes it won't be but if it's not the focus of it then what's the problem?
