Re: Football : Season 08/09
Get that linesman, he flagged for Rooneys clever corner kick trick because Rooney didn't tell him what he was going to do, what a plonker of an official.

what annoys me about that is loads of times you see a player shielding the ball in front of a linesman so that they will get thr throw in only for the linesman to then flag and say he touched it last and give the throw in the other way. The linesman will never say anything to any players but now they want the players to start talking to them

It's not in the rules to tell the linesman your taking a corner, why should it be, he should be aware of whats going on and actually watch the match and whats happening with the ball. In this case it looks like the linesman wasn't doing his job properly and didn't see Rooney take the corner, so thought Giggs didn't take the corner correctly, therefore making the wrong decision and penalising a team for being creative. And Benitez says United get all the big decisions in their favour
Anyway, a great performance from United today, totally outplayed Chelsea all over the pitch

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Lets clear up several points, Ronaldo, gets away with murder, and footie fans should realise that, I have seen Ronaldo go down in front of the ref, and wink if he has that decision, he is a typical con man, and l have watched him over several seasons. Rooney, today for example should have been sent off, for the foul and abusive language towards officials, sad to say, officals are too damn soft.
Players, like Rooney, Ronaldo, and Terry would not have five minutes in the days of Vinnie Jones etc, thats when footballers used to play football, instead of the silly rules we have today, and if you ever swore at a ref or lino, you were off.

Now I know that you really are on another planet when it comes to football, what utter drivel.
Vinnie Jones and football, what one earth have those two got in common. How can you use a talentless thug who's only notable contribution to football was grabbing Gazza's goolies as an example.

Jones was far to slow to have got anywhere near Ronaldo.
Jim.

You must all be Man Utd supporters then. He wouldn't have survived with Chopper Harris.

It may be your age, but you really don't know your hard men do you, Chopper Harris was another, kick in em the back, or tackle over the ball when the refs not looking exponent.
If you want hard men then look no further than Dave Mackay or Norman Hunter, they it gave to you full on, in the face, ( and in the groin, chest, thigh, shoulder ).
We used to have a player at United many years ago called Fitzpatrick, now he was an animal, a certifiable psycho if ever I saw one.
Jim.

Fergie responds.
You'd think Rafa would know by now to not try mind games against the master of mind games.

Bloody Man U - all I wanted was a draw against Chelsea, just so we could savour third for a couple of days, but can you trust 'em? Nooooo!

Ronaldo collects Fifa world title

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Fifa World Player of the Year for 2008.
The Portugal and Manchester United midfielder becomes the first Premier League player to win the award.

Not playing anywhere near his form from last year, but well deserved, in my opinion.
