Spurs sign Jenas.
What does everyone think? Worth the money? Good signing?

Trip was great. Loved Denmark...especially the women! Bit expensive for my liking, but definitely worth the visit.
I'm off to Cardiff on Saturday. 2nd time in a week. Went for the rugby league final on Saturday. I am pretty confident we'll win this weekend. We always seem to do badly in friendlies under Sven. Probably because he chops and changes so much, but he's done ok in serious matches so far.

Sell-on clauses in his last contract presumably.

TBH I think Newcastle have a poor coaching regime, maybe Spurs will get more out of him.
Linked with the import of Michael Owen, I think it is a good peice of business on Freddie Shepherd's part.
Sorry Punky !

10% of any profit above 5m.
Spurs bought him for 7m, that's 2m profit Newc made hsvign signed for 5m. We get 10% ie 200k.
We have similar deals on the sales of Prutton, Dawson and Reidy but IIRC that's 25% flat on the total fee.
JJ is the first of our academy prospects to make sell-on money.

He's a good player, naturally talented with energy and a bit of skill to match. I remember when he lined up for (and captained) Forest as a raw 18 y/o we had to sell to stave off admin
Under the right regime he'll be coached well and he'll be a decent player. Jol seems about right.
And he'll have Daws and Reidy for company too. We seem to be Spurs' feeder club atm

He wouldn't go AWOL for long periods on the wing forcing Ashley Cole to hold the left side all on his own.

I know, I was being facetious, why not pick him for the friendly only to call him up for the world cup games.

Martin Jol has improved Spurs steadily since his arrival, I wouldn't be surprised if some silverware will be heading Tottenham's way this season, even if it is the Carling Cup, if it is still called that ?

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
thanks for the welcome back people.....orbiting venus was a blast.
jenas is a decent player and i think he will do well at spurs.....price seems a bit high to me though.
as for kieran he is going to be a top player , i hoped he would have stayed on at west brom for another season though to ease his breakthrough into the england team.....his chances at united will be more limited for another year i think.
i am still crossing my fingers and waiting for the return of the legend that is ole
