Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
Apart from one little blip last night where Ronaldo (spit) did his Platoon impersonation and got a free kick, I would like to applaude the refs in last nights and Germany/Italy's game. They paid no heed to diving, rolling around, in other words, cheating. Last nights game was the most enjoyable to watch, not just because POrtugal got what they deserved, but because the game flowed. Just wish we'd had those refs in our games

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
Funny how no one talks about Henry exaggerating his fall to make sure he got a pen. Imagine if that was Ronaldo.
Suppose I'll be told that this is an entirely natural way to fall.

Not true but it is what they deserve after rolling around diving and cheating most of the tournament, it's ironic a dodgy pen knocks them out.

I just imagined that all the England fans who are disgusted by cheating (apart from when England cheat, because thats OK as you're just giving Jonny Foreigner a taste of his own medicine) would have been up in arms about it.

Henry was fouled though, it was a genuine penalty, so he can make as much fuss about it as he likes. I don't recall any stinkers from this tournament though, can you?

So if that was Ronaldo last night who won that pen you would have been ok with it?

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
i've seen the Henry one it i's a dive. you can see that after the contact he puts his foot down on the ground and then as the ball hs gone he dives and makes sure he falls over.. no one would fall over like that with that sort of contact

Yes, if he'd been genuinely fouled, I'd have been fine with it. I want fair play in football, not bloody oscar winning fakes.

I've seen the Henry one too - he did dive, but he did so to exagerate the fact that he had been fouled.

Do you not think Henry's fall deserved an oscar regardless of the fact he was fouled?

And you class that as fair play? Surely someone who wants fair play would be an advocate of players trying to stay on their feet.
