...wouldn't it be considered to have an off the pitch impact and therefore beyond the juristriction of the ref? Teh yellow card could be for excessive celebration (also applied when player removes shirt etc) but any incitement type charges would be beyond the ref to act

There's only 1 or 2 Spanish clubs spending well beyond the reasonable: Real Madrid and Barcelona. Essentially the 2 top clubs in La Liga.

Also, those clubs are run a bit differently. They aren't run by billionaire playboys, they are fan cooperatives who elect presidents and have to garner investments, not raid their piggy banks. Real Madrid have spent a lot of money but they received it via a bank loan. A bank would only have lent it if it was within the football club's means to repay it. Therefore their spending is reasonable.

The Financial Fair Play law is supposed to prevent owners like Abramovich and Sheik Whoever from coming and investing sums of money that are way beyond the means of the club to get in its own right.

I don't like Blatter and Platini, and they don't like the EPL. I do think its a good thing though.

What on earth is going on!

---------- Post added at 21:36 ---------- Previous post was at 20:35 ----------

Wow. Now that was lucky. Certainly not a goal from Arsenal but I think the initial penalty was iffy. The key thing here is that Arsenal won a game without playing well. Got to be the first time that has ever happened! Especially when they were 2 goals down very early on. Last season's Arsenal would have given up.

The funny thing is every EPL game in this round of CL has been like that. So you aren't alone I suppose.

Chelsea (despite the ban) are after a few new additions, so they got Kenyon to check his UTD dossier, saw there are no players left and got rid of him.

Good win for Arsenal that, as much as I admire Wengers ethos, he should have bought an honest player for midfield, I haven't rated either of them in the past, but a Fletcher or a Parlour is what is missing from that team.

I used to like Wenger, then he went into his "Don't tackle or even look at us" phase and he bugged the hell out of me. Since his Old Trafford sending off, regained a bit of respect for him. I prefered trying to beat Arsenal to the Prem than Chelsea or Liverpool.

So City may only have Bellamy fit? Dunno if I should laugh or not. We loose, well it will be the usual crap from everyone. We win, it will be "If Adebayor had played we would have won"

I am anticipating 10 behind the ball and kick us off the pitch now.

3 match ban for Adebayor

Pity as I was hoping he'd start for City against MU

I thought he had already got the ban. He still faces the possibility of another game or two banned for the celebration.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010

The 3 match ban is for the stamp, For the goal celebration a separate date will be arranged for a commission to consider that charge, with City having until 30 September to respond.

Another 3 points for Villa today - forget the first day blip; fingers crossed for the next 7 months

Not too hopeful for Portsmouth though - sold all of their best players, and can't get a point for love nor money...

Yup Pompey look pretty doomed already. My prediction for 3 to go down is;

Hull
Portsmouth
Wolves

Other likely candidates would be; Bolton, Brum & Burnley.
