Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Having a few problems with my STB here (Fleet, Hants). It froze on me when I accidentally pressed the red button so I powered it off and on again. It then froze on the "We are updating your service" screen with "TUNE" on the STB display.

After 15 minutes I phoned CS and got a rather bored-sounding woman on the other end who told me to reboot with the down button pressed on the front of the STB. This brought the STB back up, but I told her that I'd had lots of problems with this box last summer (I lost EPG functionality whenever it got hot) and that the card was turning brown so I wondered if the box was faulty. She informed me that this was quite normal and seemed eager to get rid of me.

I now have no interactive functionality on any channels except for Channel NTL (I get error M044 even on BBC1 which was previously bringing up the old-style BBCi pages).

The network status pages report the following:

STB IP Address: Not available
HW Type: 4001-2B
Card Status: Waiting
Conn Status: 4 - Ranging and power calibration

I can provide more information if necessary.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

You won't get interactive until that reads 5. some message

This should happen as you're currenly on 4 so the connection is good, but can take time. Think of it as coming soon... Say within 24 hours. If not call and moan again.

I can't help with your query.

I do however, have a point to make, not to you, but to certain other members aswell:

Please can you use punctuation?
I, and I'm sure many others aswell, find it hard to decifer the meaning of posts like yours. It takes a lot of effort to read posts like that, and it may be the difference between you recieving an appropriate answer or not. Although with yours, I can make out what you mean (perhaps I haven't picked the best example), I have seem some which have been hopeless.
Surely it cannot hurt to add a few commas (,) to break sentences down, full stops (.) at the end of every sentence, and capital letters (eg. T) at the beggining of every sentence.

Sorry to be picky, but it would make everyone's life a lot easier.

Cheers,
Browneggsandham

PS. In no way was this a personal attack :pp

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

Well got the upgrade in Woking.
Mixed feelings about it all, but:
- I can see myself getting RSI pressing buttons to scan through the mini guide and rearranging channels.
- Took me a while to work out you can use browse in the guide and miniguide to get programme info - no obvious hint for that.
- Scrolling through a channel in the miniguide really is not user friendly.

hope there are some tweaks soon.

Yeah, they really need a way to jump the cursor back to the top of the list when re-organising channels, and a way to skip through the list in 100s.

Also the 'first channel' option should be put back into the mini-guide.

As for favorites, it seems to just show the complete channel list the same as the mini-guide. How can you select what channels the favorites display and which it doesn't, as in, choose your favorites? At least in the old EPG you could scroll through a list and select favorites, rather than having to spending an hour plus to try and re-order the lot.

Oh, and why can't we just have the old channel bar at the top when changing channels, I don't want to see the mini-guide. Couldn't this be an option?

Still, it is an improvement visually, but I hope there's going to be some tweaks made fairly soon.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

No CR3 here (Bracknell, nr Reading). Did a reboot to try and force the download - after waiting over 30 minutes on the "Please wait we are updating your service" I rebooted again holding down arrow & got service back.

I've also recently lost British Eurosport (ch 112) - don't know if this is related - Bravo & ITV News (and some others) are gone too - all black with choppy distorted sound. Called Customer Services and have an engineer coming on Monday.

This is my second box - the first one died about 6 months ago ('twas only 9 months old then) but I have also noticed scorching on the card (and this is "normal"!)... The engineer who can then advised me not to put anything (i.e. VCR) on top as they are prone to overheating! The entire top of this new box is a giant air vent!!

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

I never used the old Langley software, so I'm not entirely sure what the "first channel" button did. Presumably, when you were using the old N&N bar to look flick through channel listings, you could press that to return the the listings for the channel you're watching? In which case, could the same not be acheived by pressing TV twice (once to get rid of the mini-guide, and a second time to bring it back up again?)

When you were browsing Now & Next, the first channel button used to bring you back to the first channel in the list, normally 101 or your first favorite. So if you were on channel 500, pressing 'first channel' would make the Now & Next go to the beginning.
