Re: Football talk
let me be the first to congratulate Arsenal on winning this years' title - after their last few performances Man United deserve to lose their crown miserably. Pathetic results from a team who have specialised in pathetic finishing recently. Fergie has no-one but himself to blame for not bringing in some quality defenders and a proven back-up for RVN. Saha has yet (I stress the word 'yet') to prove himself consistant.
It kills me to say it but at the moment, Arse would simply wipe the floor with United

Re: Football talk
As I'm not the Christian type like Russ I can't bring myself to say anything good about the Gooners, however I agree that they have probably won the title this year

Thats the sad fact, they blew it, but United also played well to the end of the season last time, no sign of that at the moment.

Re: Football talk
it's bad luck you had to win it in a leap year as you won't
be able to celebrate the Fact that you won the cup next year

Yes, you must be correct, and there was me thinking it was just because Chelsea paid £13 million, and United offered a maximum, and more realistic figure of £8.6 million.

Re: Football talk
Yeah but truth is, that if you can't pay above Chelsea then you ain't getting the footballers, and if you ain't getting the footballers, you ain't strengthening the team and believe me that what Man Utd really needs at the moment. Someone in the middle and back is needed that can command and lead the way.
And who above you right now ? Chelsea (and Arsenal).... I'll rest my case

We can pay above Chelsea - Saha
I would not want to be in Chelsea's position, yes they can buy any player that they want, but they are in a worse financial position than they were last year, they are losing so much money. If Abramovich gets bored and pulls out the're in the ****.
Look at Joe Cole, pay 6.6 mill for him, pay him tens of thousand a week, and he hasn't even played a full 90 minutes.

True, we have one of the greatest central midfielders in the world, but he's reaching the end of his career, so can't do it every game.
I had hoped that Djemba-Djemba could be groomed to fill this role, but unfortunately his time spent caring for his sick mother means he hasn't been able to play a large number of games.

Re: Football talk
How things change
A quote from Robben's father, who is also his agent, on Jan 25th...
Quote:
"My son will not go to Chelsea. Over my dead body will he go there. They have an owner who has no philosophy or structure at the club. Chelsea just buy expensive players all over Europe and think it will make them a great team.
"But my son has been to see Sir Alex Ferguson and nobody knows better why organisation and a good structure at a top club is so important.
"Old Trafford is the only place he wants to play and if he can't play there he would rather stay at PSV.
"In fact he would rather play in their reserves than go to Chelsea. It's as simple as that."
