How come the poison dwarf and the pervert dictator can wield such power and make so much money out of F1 and make arbitrary rule changes if and when they like ?

Mainly as they run the event...

F1 is owned and run by a private company, only the rules concerning the FIA championship (for example points, race rules..etc.. have to be OK'd by the FIA)

yes Bernie runs the commercial side via his FOM company. Max is president of the governing body.

During the 80s they fought for control of the sport and turned into the global behemoth that it is today

Errr..how can they issue legal proceeding?? There's having a laugh..They couldn't even bring legal proceedings against Honda for pulling out after they'd signed the contract for 2009..

FIA does not own motorsport, nor do the goverern all motorsport...

I don't know the governance of the FIA but there is now no doubt that this rift has brought the sport into disrepute and been brought about totally by the intransigence of Max. I really hope there is a way that Max can be removed by a vote of no confidence and that the governance of the FIA and F1 can become more transparent and inclusive. How can the FIA claim to be encouraging manufacturers when they are suing Ferrari for breach of contract? H'mm they let Honda walk away........

It is weird as it's not just FOTA against the FIA but also FOTA against F1 group, BUT F1 and FIA don't seem to be talking to each other and planning together..

Honda walked away as what could F1 do?? Even though the parent company has lots of assets all the teams are run as independant companies with debt far outstripping the assets, F1 or FIA wouldn't gain by court proceedings in any case against an individual team..

Will be interesting to see what they hope to achieve in the FOTA preceedings

Didn't they pay Ferrari £100 million to compete until the 2012 season back in 2008.

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Vettel is on Pole, almost half a second quicker than Barrichello who is second. Webber is third.

Button has balance issues with his car and is 6th on the grid. Hamilton is 19th with his undriveable car.

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Hamilton is also 19th on the grid becasue he was stopped on his final flying lap (with 24 seconds to go) after Sutil decided to bang his car into the barriers and get Q1 red flagged... Doesn;t though mean to say that Hamilton could of improved..

Watching the Sutil crash anyone else wonder if it was brake problems or for perhaps the fault of the ferrari in front of him which he seems to be quite close to casuing him to brake hard??

Hmmm, now why am I praying for a wet race tommorow just to mix things up

Hamilton said himself in the interview afterwards that even if it wasn't red flagged, he wouldn't have done much better. He knew he wouldn't get through to Q2.

Sutil's crash was possibly the worst of the season so far? Like Coulthard said, he was going through the gravel trap...wouldn't you slam on the breaks to try and not hit the barrier? Sutil's wheels weren't locked, at least they weren't on the right hand side, suggesting that there was a break failure.

Rain would just be fun to watch!

Edit; Just seen this on ITV's F1 page. Confirms break failure. http://www.itv-f1.com/news_article.aspx?id=46191

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

What i would like to is how do the management of the recently assigned tracks feel about this whole sorry debacle. The likes of Shanghai, Valencia, Abu Dabai have spent millions getting facilities together to host F1 and now all this posturing and general airing of dirty laundry in public is going on.
They surely can`t be HP with all the shenanigans.....

Compare the Turkish Grand prix - the Istanbul circuit is prepared to pay Mr Ecclestone what he wants, but it attracts fewer spectators than its capacity on a race day - with Silverstone.

Silverstone attracts huge crowds, but not enough of that money goes into Mr Ecclestone's pocket - so Silverstone is slated to be dumped as the venue for the British Grand Prix.

But he asserts that the current situation with the teams is none of his business, being purely down to the FIA?

How on earth a world wide sport can end up being influenced so much by persons arguably so far past their 'sell by' date is tragic - especially when it seems to have involved ignoring the true 'establishment' of the sport embodied in the BRDA & FOTA???
