Don't you?

Funny, here is me thinking you lost over a quarter of your games in the premiership last season.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

as i said after the Reading game.. we may have won last night but the performance was very poor and we have no real depth in the squad.. already with about 5 games gone we have to have square pegs in round holes in the team

we can't play like that and keep getting results and we seem worse off than we ever were

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

performances in europe, and for that matter, international football, are few and far between. The result is paramount, that's all supporters really care about. One reason. why I rarely get excited about football outside of premiership games.

from my point of view the performance counts just as much.. yes European games are different but we have played poor against Watford and Reading and only played the poorest teams anyway.. we can't expect to play like that all season and win anything and ther are very little signs of improvement or depth in the squad

A little harsh there !

You can only beat what's put in front of you, the exception being Arsenal. We were awful in that game, but I thought we were more than good enough against Reading, from the highlights I watched. The games we expected to win, we did. But let's not forget also, we beat Tottenham, who finished 5th last season, and who we failed to beat the season before.

Whilst it is a sign of a good team to win when playing badly, I think it is generally accepted (unless you are Chelsea) that eventually you have to play well and win also

In an ideal world, I would agree with that.

Unfortunately, the reality is a little different. To me, football is fast becoming, a "must not lose" mentality. I agree with you about Chelsea, but last weekend, even Benitez said he dislikes "open" games, and was annoyed with his teams performance. While we have coaches and managers, like Benitez and Mourinho (good coaches that they are) football will be more inclined to be result first - performance second. Sadly I see conbining the two, a declining art.

The biggest game in History(for Derry) is on tomorrow night:
PSG v Derry City

Still 0-0 from first leg, with Derry denied a blatant penality, although 2 shots were cleared off the derry line; there is still a good chance we can progress to the UEFA Cup Group Stages.

GAY RIGHTS WANT SCHOLES APOLOGY

Gay rights campaigners have urged Paul Scholes to apologise after he allegedly made a homophobic remark during ManYoo's game against Benfica. OutRage! also want Scholes to go on a 'homophobia training course', and UEFA may take action...

What actually happens on a 'homophobia training course'?

yeah about time too.. although this idea of removing players is a load of rubbish.. basically what he is saying is go back to the old idea of a replay match.. so not quite his idea there

no cup or tournament should end in a shoot out.. it should always be a replay.. the fitess and strongest team would win it then
