The main thing is we are getting them and at no extra cost or so they tell us.

True, Ben, but there is no source that I am aware of that indicates we will have to wait until 2015. It sounds as if that was plucked from the air. Unless, of course, you know different!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2
MB Views: Did Virgin Media only sign new Sky Basic deal due to Smallworld takeover?
The Sky Basic deal was not up to until 2017.
But Virgin Media has took over Smallworld in February 2014.
Did Virgin Media only signed as new Sky deal due to them paying Sky two times a month since February 2014?

But having been announced in such a public way, people are going to want to know precisely when - prospective customers, not just the awkward squad on forums like this.
It's pretty poor PR (and salesmanship) to announce something then not follow through pretty rapidly with the details.

2015? That's a complete new definition of "coming soon"

Possibly. But what Smallworld were paying Sky was presumably scaled down proportionately to their customer base, so there wouldn't necessarily be that much saving.

Exactly; when the Sky basic channels came back in 2008, they had placeholder channels up within a few days and the channels launched the week after. There's no reason to announce this now and then make us wait so long, especially as they're mainly promoting having the F1 in HD, and the F1 season has only just started.
If the channels don't launch within a short timeframe then they really need to ask themselves, is it better to announce now and then make people wait until an unspecified date, or announce it closer to the time?

It may be the timing of the announcement was mainly driven by Sky, perhaps as a reassurance to their shareholders ahead of other announcements about takeover plans, and Virgin weren't quite ready?
However the implication from it was that the Sports HD channels would come more or less immediately, with the other two 'later'.
Having signed up to that announcement, Virgin really do need expand on what their plans are, otherwise they are missing the opportunity to capitalise on the deal, as well as fuelling "speculation".

Why do you think price will go up - Sky viewers are rumoured to be paying £5/£6 for Sky Sports HD.
