Re: Major TiVo Update
Anyone getting very few programs in Planned Recordings all of a sudden? I seem to be getting less than a quarter the usual number. Hiccups seems to be saying "no longer in guide" but they are. Trying to check some series links but it's soooooo slooooow.

Yep, failed recordings with the reason "no longer in guide" or "limit reached", whatever that's supposed to mean.

Re: Major TiVo Update
Was just reading the official VM forum and a button sequence was suggested as a way to speed it up. I did a web search and apparently it is a tip known about for years.
The following allegedly resets the GUI (graphical user interface) if frozen on red ring (this tip was known back in the days of the red EPG before it changed to purple hence the wording there)
Thumb Down - Thumb Up - Play - Play
Some descriptions of this sequece say it needs to be done on the Home screen, others say it is an option if interface is frozen.
I haven't tried it myself. Maybe someone at VM could advise?

Yeah, it doesn't work. If it has any affect it only lasts 5 minutes so you wait 40 seconds for the menu to restart to save 20 seconds waiting for a program to start. There have been about half a dozen "user fixes" over the past few years but only VM can fix it. The last update made it worse, so they know what to do to make it "less worse".
I assume you mean the "Community forum". I see the mods have now gone back to the "delete unwanted recordings" user fix to "speed things up". I gave up on that place when the mods blamed noisy Tivo on noisy fans and one of them kept getting mixed up with the features on their Sky box. Everything just goes round and around without resolution and then someone else reports the same problem and it starts all over again.

It does reset the GUI, but I wouldn't recommend it. Better to do a full reboot.

Re: Major TiVo Update
Its time that you great folks in Virgin land picked up on the fact (which I said years ago)
Tivo is rubbish and no amount of upgrades with fix it. Its time to change systems altogether. Really even Netflix has the red ring when it comes via that box .
Log in to the same programme at the same time on Wifi/laptop and its fine, while frozen via Tivo /TV

Four days on and response times are still pretty good - though I still prefer to watch Netflix on my Oppo blu-ray player than Tivo.

Just for the record, yes I did and I was waiting a bit longer to see if there was any followup. As with my complaint about issues last year, I was thanked for taking the time to contact them and told that my complaint had been passed to someone who would be in touch shortly. Never heard anything more. I imagine they are more than happy to put prices up and have people leave oversubscribed areas, although you have to wonder with all the VM junk mail addressed to "the occupier", when I was a customer of theirs for nearly 20 years.

Re: Major TiVo Update
A couple of times when I've deleted a programme whist it's recording (because I've decided to watch it 'live') it's also deleted the series link for that programme... very annoying!

There's an additional option on the screen menus in certain situations. It basically says (as I remember it, this isn't the actual wording used)
Delete
Delete & Remove Series Link
Cancel
I was in a rush once when I first got the update and almost didn't notice it was 3 options to pick from rather than 2.
