Totally agree however not everyone has your level of self control. That's why they use the ignore function, to take away posts from the user that offends them or pushes their buttons. Users are trying to take responsibility by adding people to their ignore list, only to have posts from that person displayed anyway when someone quotes their post. Why even have an ignore function if it doesn't really do the job?

Cannot say i blame them DF half a season free to air and half Pay tv is not ideal for F1 fans, eventually though i expect it to go fully pay TV live, the same as live cricket has.

+1 who's not impressed by the deal.
My gut feeling is Bernie will have egg on his face next season by doing this deal as the audience wont be nearly as much as when solely on the BBC. This obviously depends on how they are going to package the F1 channel on other platforms. Only 3 months maximum til we find out

And why suspend somebody and allow other users to post his thoughts, sent to them by private message through THIS site? To allow that and then threaten sanctions against forum members who voice their very reasonable displeasure is really pretty poor.
If you're going to start picking people up when they stray outside the boundaries of what is acceptable then you also need to deal with the root cause.

I don't like to be contentious, but rather than having to step in and moderate dozens of threads and ask dozens of people to use the ignore function several times, wouldn't it make more sense to get to the root of the problem and ban whoever keeps instigating the problem? How much easier was the moderator's job when the member in question was temp banned - I don't think I saw more than one bold moderator post in a week or so, which was great.

You, as a team, either want him to stop the way he posts OR you want other members to just ignore him, but you can't have both. Every time a mod tells him off it undermines the mod who defends his right to post and suggests we use the ignore function.

How about EVERYONE stays on topic and then NO ONE gets fracked. If no one replies to the people they won't use the ignore button for then it stays on topic.Staying on topic is the surest way to ignore the elephant in the thread who is trying their level best to get attention and if I may say so getting that attention in spades every time some one reacts to their tendency to over post.
Think of them as the annoying toddler asking why all the time just to get attention. In the end you just stop listening.

I'm pretty sure Bernie will have been aware that viewing numbers would be lower when half the races are exclusively live on pay TV , it stands to reason.

I agree but it Actually might be 9 races exclusively live on pay TV because there might be no US GP.
How many have the HD pack on Sky without sky sports and how many have Sky Sports on Sky ?
I know Virgin Media have 775,000 Sky Sports customers.

The new circuit in Austin, Texas, was pencilled in to hold its inaugural race next year, but construction at the track was halted earlier this month after the promoters, organisers and Ecclestone failed to agree terms.
Although COTA hasn't given up hope of hosting the race, Ecclestone is less optimistic as he feels the organisers were never in a position to come up with the money to pay him.
Ecclestone has offered a revised contract to COTA and they have until Wednesday to sign the new offer. Should no deal be reached then the 2012 season will consist of only 19 races as the Formula One supremo has made it clear that the US GP won't be replaced on the calendar if it is dropped.
