Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

The one thing that intrigued me was the manager that got cold feet at the last minute, who was supposed to be a 'Biggy', the programme made a point of stressing that he used a French word to say he suspected a sting or a trap, how many French managers are there in the Premiership.

i think the thing was the bigger clubs had obviously got there legal teams in here and they were all bleeped out.. Sam and Harry didn't have this protection and so the programme seemed to focus in on them which didn't really seem far

the programme seemed to say that managers will sign rubbish players just so they can get a kick back and a bung which seemed abit odd to me

i wouldn't put too much on that French word as i thought that came from the agent and not the manager

i can't see Wenger or any of the top managers taking a bung just to sign a rubbish player and get a few k when they get a few million a season.. it goes against their competitive nature.. sure they have all signed a few rubbish players in their time but then if you make enough dealings that's bound to happen

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

I wonder what the scandal is about Arsenal making illegal payments to that Belgium club is all about then, tbh it seems to me that the top clubs resort to sneaky tricks to tap players up and part of it is a sweetener for the players manager, it only comes out when the other club doesn't want to play ball like Leeds and Chelsea, Arsenal and Chelsea, Man Utd and Chelsea, Spurs and Chelsea hmmm Big Sam's name is not the only one that keeps cropping up is it.

I don't think Harry has got to much to worry about, very little incriminating evidence there by the look of it, I know he said he liked a player but if that constitutes an illegal approach then it's crazy, if they want to prosecute him for something when he was at West Ham he was given 1 million of the Rio Ferdinand money and he admits it, he said it was a 'gift' for aiding Rio's development, more like it was a bung not to rock the boat over the transfer.

Imo the people that will suffer over this are the agents and I think that is best, they are the people offering the bribes, they do very little apart from take vast sums out of the game and the sooner they are properly brought to book the better.

I am also shocked Souness didn't get more of a mention, I have always thought he was a wrong 'un.

Also I have a big problem with players/ manager’s relatives being agents for their clubs talk about a conflict of interests, it has caused problems for Sir Alex at Man Utd. and now Alladyce at
Bolton, imo they should put a stop to it.

that was never even looked into properly.. not a bung as such but David Dien payed the club several million pounds and effectively took ownership of the club.. they use the club so that they can put african players there for a few years to earn an EU passport and work permit and if they are good Arsenal then "buy" them

the thing was this was never even looked into properly.. owning more than one club is against FIFA rules but FIFA said the FA will have to look into this.. the FA did but only against THEIR own rules.. they said that as the belgium club didn't enter the FA Cup or premierleague then they hadn't broken FA rules and then it was washed under the carpet

i'm sure there are alot of dodgy deals going on here and stuff and i don't think anyone will ever get to the bottom of it.. as long as the game makes a fortune does anyone realy have any incentive to clean it up ?

Football is corrupt to the high heavens. Everyone knows this with the amount of money floating around. It'll never be a clean sport. It just a case of being found out like the Italian clubs have found to their costs.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

Didn't see it, cos it sounded rubbish...too much hype around the programme, hopefully the FA will realise that its time for them to earn there money and actually 'police' the game for once in their lives. As for Chelsea well lets not get started abt that

You didn't miss anything, it billed itself as the program that would rock football, so I watched and waited for the evidence, and waited, and waited. Still waiting now.

I agree, no real bombshells were dropped, however the fact that Chelsea have incriminated themselves, makes the whole programme worthwhile

Yes, and this time let's hope it's going to be more than the promise 3 points deduction

Relegation to the Conference would suffice

Bit like today then it was only Reading.

Still well done Arsenal.

May I welcome to the Arsenal fans back to this thread. Whats that chant? You only sing when your winning?
Rooney is nothing but a spoilt brat where as Fabregas is pure class.

And we also sing when others are losing.

How many times has Fabregas been referred to as the 'saviour of the team' in the World Cup?

Arsenal fans who come on here when they lose are even more rare!

So, United above Arsenal then? Yep I'm happy with that!
