Re: Plane Spotters Corner
What do folks think of this - a transparent aeroplane?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/13764574
Personally I wouldn't like to fly on it as it would be a constant reminder of how far down it is if anything went wrong.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner
This might be created as a one off or for promotional events but it will never make it to commercial paseenger airliners.
Too many people are afraid of flying and that would just make people panic even more.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner
Would increase the likelihood the pilots could see the wing clearance though. Stop them hitting things with wing tips

Re: Plane Spotters Corner
Solar Impulse flew for twenty minutes at the Paris Air show on June 26th.
It is capable of solar powered flight night or day.
The Solar Impulse is powered by 10000 solar cells, which cover its 207-foot wingspan, and generates about 40 horsepower.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner
Good video
If one day there was a way of powering commercial airliners on alternative power than jet fuel, imagine how safer they would be. Less likely to get massive fires.
