Huh, that's weird, massive hump from 12pm to 5pm. There's still the big problem with some routes north of Manchester getting a huge hump from 8pm-11pm but that's the first time I've seen it during the day.

You forgot to enable ICMP response for an hour or two?

... during the [peak] time when you may have spotted possible utilisation issues. The rest of the time, it looks ok. Base latency bit high but not terrible. Check the peak hours profile if you are getting speed issues ..

I'm hoping this bit of a.m. packet loss is evidence of background work going on prior to the node split, fingers crossed

is this what an oversubscribed area looks like? pings have been pretty terrible since the start of term.
Postcode is SO17

Could be, parts of the Southampton area are over subscribed (mine for example ) The avg & base latency (gren & blue) are all over the place which indicates there may be more in the mix. Can you post your up and down stream power levels from the Superhub status pages? On my Superhub 2 (in modem mode) they are here:
http://192.168.100.1/cgi-bin/VmRoute...wnstreamCfgCgi
http://192.168.100.1/cgi-bin/VmRoute...UpstreamCfgCgi

What sort of speeds are you getting in peak times? These are best done over wired connection and (if you have 100M+ product, using a gigabit adapter).
Saying that, SO17 is right in the middle of University land so you may be affected by the student population returning as you mention ..
