Same situation here: as posted a couple of days ago, although my modem was upgraded, the stable connection seemed to kick-in *before* this was done, and I think it was due to remedial work on the local / regional elements of the network. Whatever, nice to be back 100%.

I don't know the difference between the modems 120/250 etc....looked on modem and see no numbers to help....are they colour coded or something to help establish which mine is

... not an expert by any means, but on both modems I have had, the 'ntl' number (i.e. 120 or 250) is on a label underneath the modem & also stamped on the cardboard box that the modems came in (the engineer always tells you to throw the box away, but I keep them if I need to move the rig anytime.)

The 120 was a silver colour, and the 250 is a deep blue (with lights that have icons on them, in contrast to the 120 which doesn't).

Just to round the saga off .. my B/B still up and stable .. and this morning, someone from NTL customer support rang up and asked if everything was OK!!!??? Well done for that - makes quite a difference to the way I perceive the organisation.
