Why is that, would you like for ntl write off all debts and put up the price of your service to compensate?
As I have stated elsewhere I never had 1 complaint in 2 years on the phones at ntl yet had 40-50 put thanks on email to me and had people write/email my team leader as well to say how well I had assisted them.

Re: my mother died last Oct. NTL are still writing to her despite being repeatedly told!!
The reason why you never had one complaint is because you don't need to give out your name! Well just your first and I can see it now, "customer: Hello I want to make a complaint about paul in your CS department..... NTL: Ohhhh ok sir and what paul would that be? Customer: Ohhh I don't know anything else as he refused to tell me anything other than his name is paul.... NTL: Ohhhhh ok sir only problem with that is there is 300 staff members with the name paul!") and no I do not expect NTL to write off any debts please see my previouse post with my attitude/response towards that!
However my problem is your attitude and the way you come across with your point of view! and if your like that here on a forum board I can just imagine what your like on the phone!
A good CS rep of any company helps everyone and not just some as and when it suites them!
My opinion is based on the respnse you made on this topic only, I'm sure your a nice person when your at home with family and friends... I also think no doubt when it suites you, you will go out of your way to help people as and when you feel like it! problem is on a normal day I can see you having the attitude you have displayed on this topic!

OK people this is drifting far off topic (and has done for some time, I played my part) so let's move away from this in case any more personal attacks ensue.

I don't see why you have taken against handyman. He is entitled to his opinion and has as far as I can see been very polite in putting his opinions. In fact I'm wondering why the ire and rage from others as well.

I've dealt with Handyman a couple of years as a customer of an ISP he worked for and the above comment in my opinion doesnt reflect my experience as Handyman went the extra mile to help.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
HOwever I'm not so sure that letter was a good move.
Theres several reasons
1) insulting a companies employies gets you no where
2) running a spell check would have been a good move
3)Directors of companies such as NTL are so far removed from the staff in CS that they are vaguely aware of some people working in a building somehwere.
If you hold the directors responsible you might as well complain to the queen too she's got as much responsibility. Director rarely hire, they dont fire....they direct the minnions beneath them.
4) Majority of others would have given up, you however, went fighting, you tell NTL that you would never be a customer, so why should NTL show you any good will? Why would they be interested in pacifying you, they have nothing to gain from it.
5) What if NTL fought back, what If you failed to do something, I'm pretty sure if they wanted to they could find "something" to make you pay court costs. Court proceedings often backfire on those issuing them.
On the other hand, yeah give em hell, it'll be interesting to see where you get.

Especially on cases of individual who may be able to afford reasonable legal representation vs company who have inhouse lawyers and lots of £ÃÆ ’‚£Ãà¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£ at their disposal.

1. If a company's staff are not doing what they're paid to do then the directors should be interested. If they're not then the directors are not doing what they are paid to do.
2. Fair enough.
3. Responsibility rests with those at the top - always. This is basic business school stuff. This may prompt the director to speak to the senior manager, who'll prod the middle manager, etc.
4. I would seriously hope that the directors are interested in making sure this doesn't happen again, so they should be very interested. I don't think goodwill enters into it. It's not a begging letter.
5. No company would be mad enough to want to stir this up.
Sorry to hear about your loss, Mitchpl, having been there myself. Personally, I'd accept a written apology and confirmation that they won't bother you again. Up to you obviously.

You may not get the response you want. In my experience companies that are threatened with legal action are just as likely to try and fight it as give in.

Re: my mother died last Oct. NTL are still writing to her despite being repeatedly to
Thanks for the thought. All I want is an unreserved apology & the assurance someone else in the future who is not perhaps made of strong stuff, has to go through all the same stuff. Large Co's need to understand that from behind their polished board room table, "joe public" wont be walked over & thatthey need to take responsibilty for their systems of work, even when they mess up. People power counts for a lot & they need to percieve correctly their credible position in the marketplace. I have no doubt in my mind that they will be 100% sure that if the popular tabloids got hold of it, it would damage not only their business but their reputation.
