Recall is MANDATORY on all Windows 11 PC's as it is now a Core Component of the Windows 11 Operating System.

If it is removed then File Explorer does not work as it should anymore, at the moment that is the main thing that has been found however people are currently testing this to find what else it has been tied into!

This is the same as what happened with Cortana, that could be removed but it would cause no end of issues when trying to use certain Windows app's and functions.

You cannot install Windows 11 24H2 without installing Recall unless you remove it from the ISO, and if you do, your File Explorer will not work the same, and if you leave it in, regardless of whether you have an NPU or NOT! then Recall is installed and enabled by DEFAULT you have NO CHOICE!

Recall is here to stay, it will be rolled out to everyone on every pc regardless of whether it has an NPU or not since it DOES NOT REQUIRE AN NPU if the PC has a GPU capable of 40 Top's or More, which most GPU's in the last 5 years are capable off producing.

Microsoft can say all they want on the internet that it will require an "NPU" but nearly every hardware manufacturer of PC Components have said it's not required, and I tell you what, it is going to be funny next month when people hit YouTube showing Recall enabled on machines without an NPU!
only you are doing that like and your source aye i forgot it Chris Titus that runs windows not Microsoft silly me

Ah yes Britec, who clearly states "who knows we can't tell the future" about whether this is going to come to all pc's.

You clearly didn't watch the video, just like you clearly seem to be incapable of reading or even answering a simple question.

Again

Why is Recall enabled on a PC that supposedly cannot support it?

i did watch video it why i posted link he very right about lots of lies being told and he clearly shows that Microsoft are working with Intel the 15th gen will have a NPU so be to use recall and AMD have some NPU processors out too so be to use recall then but wont be to use recall without a NPU processor as Microsoft have stated

but Microsoft stated it can be removed and if they fail on that they will deserve all the crap they will get and rightly so

Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download

*sigh* chill out.

Window 10 is the last version I would consider.
(if I were to ever use another version, after W7).

While recall exists, Windows 11 will never get near any PC of mine.
I dont care what they actually say will/wont happen, I dont trust them one inch.

The future looks likely to be Linux, M$ have just lost the plot.
I cant see why anyone would really want such an incredibly intrusive feature.

Agreed.

It appears that the big Tech companies are desperately seeking to find a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist - they’ve spent tens of billions of dollars trying to create GenAI, and don’t appear to actually have a paying market for it.

Another future cost is that of data centre growth required for Gen AI - see the Forbes article.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tiriasr...llion-by-2028/

Quote:
Tirias Research forecasts 2028 data center power consumption of close to 4,250 megawatts, a 212X increase over 2023, at a total server amortized capital plus operational cost of over $76B dollars in today’s dollars. This cost excludes the cost of the data center building structure but includes labor, power, cooling, ancillary hardware, and 3-year amortized server costs.

Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download

I went back to 23H2 using a backupper image taken before the update. Had issues with video being choppy. I am guessing it as a GFX driver but just rolled back to a good config that just works for me. The driver on it dates back to Jan but works with everything I do

yeah I have used it for years. Take images once a month and if there are any issues or glitches I just recover back to the last known good config. Saves a hell of a lot of time

Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download

Further update on the recall feature that is in all versions of 24H2.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZi_8VtFa-A

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DfpX2scg00

And the joke video from Microsoft https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWDMJ_MHHCM

It is installed and enabled as default and is Mandatory

As yet those looking into this don't know why it is in all versions of 24H2, where it is and what it is doing.

My question is WHY is it being installed on non copilot+ PC's if Microsoft know they as yet cannot run it.

Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download

Chris Titus infered that if you remove by creating a custom ISO then it just brakes the new File Explorer and you still have the old one. There are alternative file explorers you can use. There is a good chance a good one will be made by someone like Stardock for this very reason

you can disable it without altering ISO in terminal without breaking file explorer

just use this command in terminal admin

Dism /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Recall

to check recall status use this command in terminal as admin

Dism /Online /Get-Featureinfo /Featurename:Recall

plus can use Group policy editor to

Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download

But again the question is why are they installing it on machines that cannot run it and why is it enable by default. They claim it is opt in so if it is opt in why is it enabled as default ????
