To save power. Although the saving is less than a Watt, multiply by 2.5 million TiVos and it makes a big difference.

People used to moan that the display on the V+ HD was too bright lol.
It would be better if there was a 3 step brightness choice, two of my TiVos seem to have brighter LEDs than the other. Think its between the two makes of boxes.

Re: Help - new Tivo & Superhub installation
TVM guys.
Ours is a Samsung 500mb box and honestly in daylight, the lights are invisible and at night they're only just. Not a major issue however.
As regards using the old the modem, it's a cheapish Netgear wnr1000 v.3 (N150) so would reconnecting that adversely affect the wireless speeds?

Re: Help - new Tivo & Superhub installation
You could still use the superhub wireless as well as using your old router for the wired connections. It would mean setting up your wireless devices to connect to the superhub instead of your old router.

While on the other hand they put ridiculously bright lights on the Superhub 1 and make it take 5 watts more power than it needs. Multiply that by 2.5 million Superhubs and any savings from TiVos are wiped out a dozen times over.

The Superhub's wireless should theoretically be up to twice as fast as your old router.

Re: Help - new Tivo & Superhub installation
Thanks guys.
Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do with my old modem and STB? The CS rep I talked to said they'd send me details of what to do with it but I haven't had anything yet.

For me there were instructions and shipping details in the box for my SH2ac that got delivered to ship my old modem back.

Re: Help - new Tivo & Superhub installation
When ordering over the phone, I was told I would be sent details later. A month on, I still haven't received anything.

What was your old modem and STB?
You should either have a returns label in the pack to send back the kit if Virgin Media want it back, or instructions on your local recycling centre that accept electrical kit if they don't ( WEEE takeback scheme)

Re: Help - new Tivo & Superhub installation
It's not just a matter of putting it in an envelope and in a post box. A courier would have to be involved.

Returns are via Collect+ in the box the new kit came in.
If for whatever reason you've got kit that VM want back and you don't have a returns label then Customer Services can arrange for a replacement label to be posted out.

Same thing here when I got the self install HD upgrade, they said they'd send me details of what to do with the old Samsung STB that was working fine. Still waiting months on.

It's a Samsung STB and ancient cable modem. I was told I'd be contacted after the installation and be advised where to take the old kit to be returned to VM. There was no returns label in the box.
