Re: Keep losing internet connection with Bittorent?

Thanks for the reply. I've actually just tried shifting the whole pc downstairs to test and it found a connection fine. So looks like it's a signal strength issue. Is the inSIDDer scan going to be any use for that? Any way to significantly boost the signal without shelling out for yet more equipment? Thanks for all your help, Mark

Re: Keep losing internet connection with Bittorent?

Your signal isn't that weak, but from the mini time graph seems to be fluctuating and getting a lot worse in places. The "dongle" is a Netgear WNDA3200 which is by no means a bad device and should be able to maintain a decent connection at those signal levels.

You are running 300Mbps mode in 2.4Ghz which isn't really a good idea, especially when it's directly overlapping someone else's router. I'd put it into 20Mhz-only and channel 1 or 13.

Re: Keep losing internet connection with Bittorent?

Thanks for the reply. I've put it on channel 13. Re: the 300mbps part, I've no idea where I change this. I found an option under advanced wireless called 'bandwidth', which I've changed from '20/40mhz(auto)' to '20mhz'. Is that all I need to do, or is there another setting somewhere that I'm missing? Thanks again, Mark

Re: Keep losing internet connection with Bittorent?

That's it. Might help a bit, might not. Signal strength, as I say, doesn't look weak enough to be a problem but if it does fluctuate a lot then moving it around might help.

Re: Keep losing internet connection with Bittorent?

Thanks for the help, but it's not working still - it does (sometimes) work if I move the router around downstairs, but due to the location of the superhub restricting where I can situate the router I can't leave it where I get a signal.

So I've bought these, and hope 30 quid is going to be worth it just to stop me throwing the PC through the window:

Thanks again, Mark
